[IMG] i have decided to ditch my current game because i realized that all i ever play are wizards and thieves. yes, i do plan on going through the series with this one and i would prefer if it was one of the shorter races.

any suggestions will be helpful as i am having a conflict of mind...

After playing thiefs and mages (yes, sounds familiar actually) for a ages in both BG-1 and 2, I also noticed it was time for a change and I switched over to play something different.

I chose a halfling cavalier for this purpose. Even a human pally could be fun I guess - I think pallys do get about the best class-quests in BG-2.
Besides, A halfling pally is allowed, following the 3E rules ;) though you need shadowkeeper to build one in BG-2.

An alternative could be a cleric giving you interesting spells and the benefit of a good AC.
Druid spells are cool, but in BG-2 druids are pretty restricted in their abilities (for the high level spells [like calling an animal herd] are difficult to implement in a crpg).

A fighter could be interesting either, just like a ranger and I think here the archer is a pretty cool and challenging class. If you´re going for a versatile char a dc ranger-cleric could be interesting.
A monk is very powerful in the end and should be fun to play.

Do not play a monk. As far as i can see it the Monk is only for people who are too weak to give them selves a challenge. You might aswell play through the game on easy with a level 40 group!!!
If you want a complete contrast to what you have played before then try the Barbarian. Dwarven preferably as this will give you a decent challenge and they are infact a surprisingly interesting and fun class to play.
Personally i have seen the light and only play as my undead hunter. Plus a little tip:
Paladins always gt the highest stats cos even if they roll 3 charisma it is immediatly changed to 17 due to the requirements without penelties to the other stats. Same with the wisdom at 13.

[IMG] Take a BG1-druid (so you get a high strength stat). Import to BG2 and choose Avenger kit. Dual class to Fighter when you reach Avenger-12.

You can reach Avenger-12/Fighter-18 and this character is quite different from your previous thieves and mages. (Alternatively you can go for Avenger-14 and then dual to Fighter if you want play in ToB wiht the higher XP cap.)

Why Dont You take a Lucky die and roll a random character? You actually dont need us to convince You to play anything.

With a die You get a funny character nevertheless. And that might be what You are looking for.

i made up my mind and decided to play the character that best suited me as a person. i came up with a pale redheaded human thief...(not smart enough anymore to be a mage...used to headbutt my locker to close it...)
