Come on, own up. Who has Christmas decorations up in their homes already? We have a tree, but still not fully decorated yet, I had to cut out some of the christmas tree lights from the chain as they had loose connections so they're the only things on it.

Bah, when I was a lad we used to go and cut a tree down on Christmas eve (Having paid the farmer first of course!). Presents would go under it overnight so my Brother & I didn't have chance to try & work out what they were.
blah blah blah grumpy old git starts to ramble.

We don't have our fake tree up yet. We traditionally put it up on christmas - and it stays until Holy Three Kings day.

Actually we would have our Adventskranz (a bit like a Christmas wreath - but with four candles, and for lying on the table, or hanging from the ceiling. You first light one on the first advent, two on the second advent, and so on. On christmas you also light all candles.), but we didn't find the time yet . :(

    And I have a small Advents-Calendar.

Tree got put up last night. And some lights around the door. Decorating the tree will probably be done at random little intervals over the next week.

What on earth is the point of putting up your tree on Christmas Eve? Seems a complete waste of effort for such a short period.

I always put up our tree on 1 December and take it down on 6 January. So our tree has been up and twinkling for over two weeks now and has about a dozen presents under it so far.

Nah, tree goes up in the middle of December, and comes down when it falls over, usually in January. :D

The tree's up (a fake one) and there are a couple of presents under there. Other than a little bit of tinsel, that's all :D

Just a pretend tree, a few decorations and lots of lights inside the house.

I've had an electric candle thingy as a light on my comp desk since I broke the lamop; doe that count?

as it is, I might be bothered to put something up, depending on our Christmas arrangements - but most likely I shall be tree-less thanks to the kitties.

[IMG] I'm not a Humbug, I just don't like the idea of being forced to be happy and peacefull just because it's the 25th of December.

I mean I love a good party good food and candels, but I don't like to have tree's inside the house and nonesense like that.

Fake tree is up. Exterior lights are up with timer to turn them on/off each night. Three wreaths up outside. 3' tall nutcracker beside my fireplace. Two sets of three ceramic Christmas figures. Various placesettings, candles, doorknob covers etc. with Christmas themes.

Sorry, but the idea of a fake tree just seems so... wrong. Maybe I'm more of a traditionalist than I thought. We haven't even contemplated getting the low-needle drop trees (Norway Spruce?).

It was part of the tradition putting the tree up on Christmas eve, really got the excitement up as a kid, and I guess prevented the excitement being too early and me & my brother bouncing off the walls for a couple of weeks. Plus then it didn't run into my Birthday. We'd come down on Christmas morning and find the paper from the chimney on the floor to show Father Christmas had been. (Fireplace was never used as it was badly designed and blew smoke back into the room - House was built bespoke for my parents - and was stuffed with paper to stop draughts)

That's one hell of a nutcracker JSBB. I tend to use a 6-8" one.

I've never had a real tree. Too expense, and too much hassle.

The 3' tall nutcracker is purely decorative - I suppose that you could crack nuts with it but I use a small plain metal one for that.

Expensive? Can't you just go and cut one down? In Ireland people go to the bogland areas and cut them down. I don't think I ever saw a fake tree when I lived there. I don't like real trees in a house, the bits that come off them stick in your feet and hurt like a bastard.

Real tree, with some nice colored lights and some glass balls.

On the outside, a bunch of lights, which i stuck up a while ago. Unfortunatly, my dog has a great interest in getting tangled in them, so she has already ripped them off once...
