I saw my first Cirque du Soliel show about a month ago, 'Alegria.' It was probably the most amazing performance I think I've ever seen. A little pricy (VIP tickets were $160!!), and I wouldn't normally spend so much on a single event, but man was it worth every penny. The music, acrobatics, contortion, visuals...just incredible. They have a CD out for the music from Alegria and I've been listening to it nonstop ever since. The singer, Francesca Gagnon, probably has the most beautiful and expressive voice I think I've ever heard. It's all in a different language (French, which I sadly don't speak), but when the music is that good it doesn't seem to matter. If you have the means, I would highly recommend attending a Cirque show to anyone.

Any other Cirque fans out there? I'm wondering if there are any other shows of theirs anyone here has seen, and if so are they as cool as Alegria? Are they worth seeing? Or, I'm just curious if anyone else is a fan too. I never really heard or thought too much of it, until a friend talked my GF and I into going when they came through Houston. Needless to say I'm now hooked for life.

I saw both Quidam and Dralion when they came to Santa Monica. They were both great, but I liked Quidam better. Varekai is coming soon to So Cal, but I don't know if I want to go to the locations I've seen scheduled so far.

It's just odd I have to make my final french writing exam on the cirque du soleil. And did you know it's from Québec?

I'd mis-spell it just to harsh the French. ;)

Anyways, yeah; it's an AWESOME circus. They were showing it on Disney or something, here, a couple of months ago. I caught most of it on tape, but haven't bothered to transfer it to DVD yet. It's on my list of things to do.

Yeah, that is an awesome circus, though I haven't seen any of them in person, and I don't remember any of the names of the shows (probably too awestruck to remember).
