    HLA = High Level Abilities, in case you didn't know.

    I found this on the description of the latest patch for ToB on the BioWare site:
    See it for yourself here. For those of you who remember the Multi/Dual class debate, this helps Dual classes a bit in the comparison.

    Except that it is not accurate in my experience. Multi-class get it at around 3 million, dual-class get at at around 3 million in the second class (at least the last time I tried). Give it a shot on your computer with shadowkeeper or the console. Create a character, give him, say, 2.5 million xp, dual over to something else, give him another 1 million, no HLA's. Try 2 million, same problem, by 3 or 3.5 million, you get the HLA's. Bummer. Maybe they expected people to dual at relatively low experience levels, which would explain the "more or less" comment.

    @ dmc

    I assume you have the latest patch this refers to installed? I think you're right too, but maybe this is something they addressed with the latest patch, as is what I think Senior von Drumheller is pointing out.

    My recollection is that they haven't upgraded the patch in quite some time. Thus, if there really is a recent upgrade, it may have fixed the problem.

    I brought it up exactly because it seems that according to most of the threads here, it isn't accurate, as dmc said. I don't have any DC characters over 3 million xp, and the DC NPCs are pretty low level in their first class so I can't tell from them. It's not gonna make a big difference for most of us, but it'd be nice to know for sure.

    You also run into some interesting problems if this is true. Let's say I have a level 19 Fighter (2,750,000 exp) and I dual class to Mage. Do I get HLAs at level 10 (250,000 exp)? It sounds somewhat ridiculous that a level 10 Mage gets HLAs (which he can't even use yet), but maybe BioWare is saying that by the time you accumulate 3 million total exp, you're at a point in the game where HLAs would be appropriate for your character. That "give or take a few thousand" throws a monkey wrench into things as well :mad: :confused: .

    no....

    let me try to explain.

    lets say you are doing a kensai\thief.

    you get 3million xp for your kensai and he\she get the first HLA. you continou to do it until your kensai have 4250000 xp before you dualclass into thief. 3million xp is level 20 and 425....is level 26, which means you get 6 HLA points to distribute before you dual class.

    now you have dual classed into thief.
    you level him\her up but notice you dont get hla's the first levels.
    you wont get thief HLA's before level 24 (3040000xp) and your char will reach level 27 theif which means you will get 3-4 HLA's in the thief class.

    reviewing this, the solution is obvious.

    a character that dual class wont get hla before he reaches the first classes 3million xp mark and then again when the other classes 3million xp mark is reached. so a kensai\thief 25\27 will get 8-11 hla points to distribute (or with other words...8-11 HLA's).

    i hope this helped.
