Well, I've had the chance to play Shinobi 3 for a while, and it's time for a review, methinks.

This game was absolutely worth the $10 I spent on it. Gameplay is good, if a little on the stiff side, but FAR off from being a negative. Graphics are great for Megadrive, the music is good... and this game features NINJAS, a LOT of 'em. A game with Ninjas is a good game... enough said.

Shinobi has two weapons -- shurikens, and a sword. You have to set the number of starting shurikens manually. You can be stingy as hell and go the sword route -- aka the challenging way -- or give yourself a nice stash or shurikens and do it the easier way... killing ninjas with shurikens. Either way is fun. Shinobi can use Magic as well, though I tend to be terribly stingy about it and stash it for the level boss... better strategy, IMO.

There are some places where you have to do walljumping in order to continue the level... I had trouble with my Nakitek D-pad which made this walljumping painful, but now that I've fixed it by swapping the broken rubber cushion with another one from a near-dead Genesis controller, it's much smoother.

In a nutshell, you kill ninjas while going through levels and avoiding hazards, kill the occasional mini-boss, kill a bunch of ninjas, and kill a boss. There's not much to tell, except that Shinobi 3 is an AWESOME game, worth checking out if you enjoy the WONDERFUL Megadrive and it's awesome library of great, great games. Yeah, I love the MEGADRIVE... screw you if you don't like it.

There is also a Shinobi game on Master System, and I am keeping my eyes peeled to hopefully land a copy to play and review.
