Cleric Domains Mod - Install issue

Need a little help with this one. The directions are pretty straight forward, but it is not going as planned. Here are the directions straight from the Readme file.

"Unzip the pack directly into your main IWD2 folder (don't create additional folders!) and run Setup-IWD2-clerics-1d3-config.exe to configure your cleric domains. You can also directly edit Setup-IWD2-clerics-1d3 config/CLERDOMN.2DA configuration file in any text editor. Then run Setup-IWD2-clerics-1d3.exe file to install and uninstall cleric domains from the configuration file."

1st, I have downloaded the files via SP directly into my IWD2 folder. No biggie, just like most mods that i have installed for the IE games. I have run the "Setup-IWD2-clerics-1d3-config.exe" file. That seems to work just fine. But when I try to run the "Setup-IWD2-clerics-1d3.exe" file next, it just repeats the download of the config file. I'm confused???? Why doesn't it let me alter the Domains?

 

I have also tried to install this mod couple of times, but to no avail. I can alter the configuration file, but the Setup-IWD2-clerics-1d3.exe won't work.

 

What editor did you use to do this? Is it user friendly? Where can I get it? I have never tried to use an editor, so hopefully I won't kill the game.

 

It's possible to alter the configuration the file(s) of the mod, clerdomn.2da with a highly sophisticated program known as Notepad, but that doesn't help much. The changes won't transfer to the game itself. Maybe I've done something wrong, perhaps I'll give it a another (final) shot.

edit: I don't know what I did differently, but now it worked! First I used the config.exe, and changed some of the deities. Then I ran Setup-IWD2-clerics-1d3.exe which actually installed the changes - and that's about it. This could mean that I have to start a new IWD2 run tonight...

 

I used Notepad again last night. I thought you were referring to something in particular, my bad.

I uninstalled all of my IWD2, reinstalled from scratch.

- Installed IWD2
- Installed latest patch
- Installed LOS
- Installed EoU, a few options only, so no problems there.
- Downloaded the Cleric Domains from SP to my IWD2 folder. Ran the Config 1st. Then used notepad to change the deities, specifically following the instructions. Basically, just changed the names of the deities to add Lloth, Moradin and Corellon, deleting Talos, Selune and Oghma.
- Ran the exe file next, which didn't allow me to change a thing manually.
- Started IWD2 and the original deities were still there at character creation, nothing new was added/changed.

 

That should be the correct way to install. I had exactly the same problem earlier, but today it worked.

There's something weird about this mod, though: I uninstalled some other mods, which went ok, but the Setup-IWD2-clerics-1d3-config.exe launched itself after them every single time

Then I re-installed just this domain mod and changed just one deity (Oghma -> Carl Glittergold), and the game refused to start at all, giving some assertion-related error message. I took Oghma back from the bench and everything was ok.

 

Maybe the relaunching is a Weidu issue? Maybe the mod is so old that a newer version of Weidu isn't 100% compatible?

 

Actually it didn't launch the config.exe, it just showed the clerdomn.2da.. maybe it's supposed to do that? You may be right, the mod doesn't seem to be 100% compatible. Some domains seem to work, while at least one caused a crash.

This might be a stupid question, but: where/how do you get a newer (or older) version of WeidU?

 

I think any of the more recent downloads use the most recent version, like LOS or possibly EoU for example. But I'm not sure, maybe someone else who is more knowledgable can answer that one.

Calling all Modders.....

 

I had only some older mods (Undead Targos, Ease-of-use) installed when I tried the domain mod, maybe that's why it actually worked this time? Go figure.

 

I'll try it tonight with no other mods installed. I have been looking at other sites trying to get any info on this, it's pretty hard to find anything about this mod other than the basic downloading instructions. SOMEBODY had to try this one previously, as I have read Tioma talking about playing these Clerics on another forum. But it was a very old thread. Oh well....

Alright! Got it working... just some good old fashion trial an error. My patience usually doens't last that long.

So, starting from scratch, I loaded everything, in this order and it is working.

1 - Installed IWD2
2 - Patch, v. 2.01
3 - Cleric Domains Mod, here on SP.
4 - Ran the config file.
5 - Used Notepad to change the deities as per the instructions.
6 - Ran the exe file.
7 - Also loaded LOS then EoU as well, in that order. Though I did not choose many options from EoU. I believe some of them will conflict with LOS, the Holy Avenger options for example.

 

Update your weiDU installer, ease-of-use is old, and it's old weiDU isn't compatible with other mods... just go to weidu.org
I think you have compatibility problems with all mods, as long as the unadjusted ease-of-use is interfering.
