How I loved my cloak of mirroring in SoA. I could kill any number of those pesky beholders just by sending my party away and standing next to them. Every spell they used on me bounced back onto them, so as I yawned and stretched, they'd get critical wounds, feeblemind, turn to stone and fall down. It was great.
But in ToB -- not so! Their damage spells don't affect me, but they don't affect them, either, so I have to kill them the old-fashioned way. Is this a bug?

No its not a bug. I think it was changed for game balance or something like that:nolike:. Its kind of annoying isnt it.

The sheild of Baldurn does the same thing to beholders though (but only beholders). If you don't have the bonus CD than you can download the 2 extra merchants from the second page of the editors hacks and custom characters section of the BG2 part of this site.

For the purpose of game balance, I think it is in order, that they changed the effect of the cloak of mirroring. But the new graphic is giving me a killer headache after a couple of hours of playing.

One of the 'bonus' merchants are included in the latest TOB-patch. It's the one in the Adventurers mart. (The one with the shield of Balduran!)

If you so desire, you can use the original Cloak of Mirroring in ToB. While it will revert back to its ridiculously overpowered ways, at least it gets rid of that annoying sphere thing around your character.

Here's how to do it: find the file CLCK26.itm in your override directory and move it. Do not delete it, just move it to another directory.

I did this before starting my current game and have made it through to chapter 8 without any problems/crashes so it seems safe to do.

Seeing that Brennen? (Fire Giant) dude die from his own Finger of Death spell was kinda sweet also :)

Do you take it completely out of the BG2 main directory or just put it in some other file like the portraits or characters directory. And when you do this can you still get it in SoA or do you already have to have it before you do it. I have just started a new SoA game and I eventualy want it on Imoen so she can go in and fight other mages but not get hurt by their spells.

I moved it up to my main BG directory and all was fine. You can still get the cloak as the original is stored in a .bif file somewhere. All you are doing is removing the "patched" cloak and the annoying globe it creates.

Thanks for the answer. I think I'll do that. I hate looking at that globe. You cant even realy see the character its on.
