All this talk of clubs got me to wondering about this one. Anyone ever use it or bother to upgrade it? If so, how often did you get a Fireball? IIRC, there's a 5% and 15% (upgraded) chance of doing so.

I actually used it in my last run, I give it to Jaheira, and I got it quite often, AFAIK it is a %5 chance only, but it felt more like 15 or more.

But, even though I found it a little annoying getting hit with the fire damage from the "detonation", I does short work of your enemies. After all it is +5 weapon

Hey Kuem, you wana know how many times I got it? 5% of the time. Seriously I have no idea, and didn't care for it much because of the damage to the party.

Well my party has almost %100 resistance to fire by that point, or hefty MR. Its fireball can be blocked by MR, yes? Then I may think to use it in the future, sounds like and evil idea!

By then fireballs aren't really the most powerful of spells anyways so it doesn't really appeal to me!

Actually, I think you have it backwards. Once you upgrade it, I'm pretty sure it decreases the chance of releasing a fireball. I don't know for sure though, because ever since I installed the item upgrade mod, Fulcrum and Pitchwife have become my clubs of chioce.

    Club of Detonation +3
20% chance target will take an additional 10 points of fire damage with each successful attack
7% chance a fireball will automatically detonate with each successful attack
    Damage: 1D6 +3, +3 fire damage

    Club of Detonation +5
30% chance target will take an additional 15 points of fire damage with each successful attack
5% chance a fireball will automatically detonate with each successful attack
    Damage: 1D6 +5, +5 fire damage

I don't use it very often, mostly because not my entire party is 100% fire resistant, and some with low hit points can still be hurt a lot by the randomly firing fireball. In a solo with the protagonist being immune to fire, it would be a very interesting weapon. If it weren't for the fact that many enemies in ToB are immune to fire.

Uhh, but that extra 15 fire damage is very potent too, never noticed that!

On the fifth level of the Watcher's Keep, it's on Ferrumach Rilmani, who spawns after you turn the key of the right most pedestal.

    /edit
Actually, that's the Club of Detonation +3. Bring that and a Ring of Fire Resistance and some money to Cespenar and he'll make the Club of Detonation +5 for you.

Thanks for the corrections Aldeth and henkie. I've been toying with a beastmaster and his 2 weapons are clubs and staves. I think I'll give it a try.

Ring of Fire Resistance is a pretty big sacriface to make of one, mere +5 weapon. Those are in abundance in ToB whereas you can't get practically permanent +50 FR from everywhere...

Actually, the Ring of Fire Control gives 50% fire resistance. The Ring of Fire Resistance gives you 40% fire resistance. There are two instances that I know of. First is from the Rakshasha in Firkraag's lair. You can buy a second ring from Lazarus Librarus in Saradush.

I think there is a second fire resistance ring hidden somewhere in SoA... But it's been a while and it's not a ring I use as commonly as others.

The Rakshasa has it. He's right before you enter the first door from the main entrance area, and he's surrounded by a half dozen or so kamikazi kobalds.

And you would waste a couple of ring slots or an armour slot or whatever just to save yourself from the blast from a weapon you could quite frankly do without?

Could a Mage/Thief theoretically (once they get UAI, of course), cast Fireshield:Red, go in and smack some foes around? Of course, 5% isn't too great of chances... you could always have some sunfires in a trigger, blast those off and then do some smacking...
