    Interesting and well written. I have just read a long thread about fossil fuels over at civfanatics and the debate was rather high there. However the fact remains, fossil fules *will* dry up. Does it really matter if it is within a decade, half a century, a century or a millenium? Sooner or later we will all be cold turkey if we dont do something about it.

    Hey, Jack, welcome back.

    As for the article, it was interesting, but, IMHO, the biggest problem with fossil fuels is the fact that we are using them for burning and not for something more lasting, like plastic. Once we run out of oil that's swell enough to be refined into gasoline at an acceptable cost, our oil companies will finally do the R & D they should have been doing these last few decades, and there will be another cheap source of fuel (cheap being a relative term). At that point, however, our fossil fuels will be gone and won't be available for more important stuff than making us go from point A to point B as fast as we'd like to.
