Does any one use this spell....to any great effect?

The description says that it commands another creature to "die" (sleep) for a single round. At the end of the round the creature awakens unharmed.

Sounds pretty crappy at first, until you realise that there is no saving throw! That would mean that you could cast it on any creature without MR and have a near perfect success rate. O.K. a round isn't that long but if your fighting a creature that does a lot of dammage or has a lot of attacks, you could effectively neutralise it while ensuring that all of you party hits it. If you used it at the beginning of every round (it has casting time 1) using the cast and attack method, you may even be able to keep a monster out of the battle.

Could any one verify this, have they had any stratergies revolving around this spell?

I use it a lot early on, it is a great spell. I have seen some reports that there is a save vs spell, which is why it loses effectiveness later on. I think MR would take effect no matter what.

It is a very useful spell and still works at high levels, although many creatures will save against it. There is a higher level of that spell that affects a whole area, but I can't remember the name...

Chaos, Emotion, and Symbols will wash floor with it. In the beginning, though, it is pretty good to have.

The beauty of divine spells is you don't lose anything by trying it. Unlike a sorcerer you automatically get all the spells anyway, so when it stops working just memorize a different spell.

Hold is a great early spell as well. Still effective for quite a while.

CW: Die is fantastic for a low level party in BG1! Last session I used it on Karlat and Silke in Beregost. It made those fights incredibly easy! I was really stunned by its effects, since I had never used it before. I surely will use it in the future now!

It is especially useful against Ogres and the like. Charm is the other under-used spell.
