The latest answers in Sydax' threat made me want want to find out how much one has to pay for a broadband connection (+ flatrate) in different countries.

I'm from Germany. I've got a 2MB connection (192 kbit upload) plus a 'real' flatrate (no limits whatsoever) and I'm paying about 27€ a month. Plus 15€ for the usual phoneline. This makes it about 42€ for phone and DSL complete.

So, how much do you pay in other countries??

10/10 connection, not sure about the price, I think it's around 300 SEK/month, which is about $40 or something.

Finland, ADSL 8/1 Mbps 59€/month, flat rate.

However, depending on where in Finland you live, you could get an ADSL2+ or a VDSL connection (much faster) with the same or cheaper price.

Hmmm...Here I've seen 1MB DSL for as little as $25 per month, but to get that you have to sign up for a full year and also get a home phone line, cell phone service, and satelite TV to get the discounted DSL price. Qwest is currently offering a deal where the more service you get from them, the better the monthly discount you get.

I've seen it as high as $55+ a month for a 2MB Cable connection. That's too much for only a 1MB upgrade. :rolling:

Student's ADSL. Real maximum rate 56 kb/s up/down, price integrated to my rent. It's probably about 20 €, considering that students wouldn't be able to pay as much as 50 € of it.

Man, many of you seem to be paying very much for very little... Hopefully, prices will go down and speed will go up with the expansion of fiber-optic nets... It's happening everywhere in Sweden.

$14.95 for Verihzon DSL in my area. Of couse you need a local phone for about $20. That is roughly $35 or you could go Cable and that roughly $50 a month.

4/1 Mbps (shared line with 6 flats) 10€/month here in Finland.
Outrageous as it makes it 70€/month for 4/1 Mbps, you can get 8/1 for the same price, althought you'll have to pay it for all by yourself.

What wouldn't I give for all the world getting 1/1 Gbps (me included) *drools* :D
