I have just finished the game with my evil monk, and is now off to create a good party. This is how I'am going to make it:

    # Main Character: A swashbuckler which I'am going to dual class to a mage at level 10 or 15 to get the AC and to hit bonuses.

    # Jaheira

    # Minsc

    # Anomen

    # Nalia (Going to switch her for Imoen later)

    # Now this one is a hard one to decide. Which one of Keldorn, Valygar and Mazzy should I take???

Take Keldorn, give him a bracer of dex and he will be a first class character. Plus if you want to have someone to wield the Holy Avenger, he is the one and only one.His true sight spells are useful and convenient too. ;)

From a power game perspective, Keldorn. But it all depends on what you're looking for. Mazzy will do a lot of damage firing arrows from the back row. Seriously, with more attacks per round with a bow than with a melee weapon, she will actually out-damage most fighters. Of course, Valygar gives you the ability to backstab. Any of the three will compliment the party nicely.

One word of caution on your swashbuckler. You're off by one level with when to dual-class. You get the first bonus at 1st level, and then the bonuses are every 5 levels after that. So the AC and attack/damage bonuses don't occur at level 10 and 15. They occur at level 6, 11, 16, etc.

I'd also go for Keldorn for the Holy Avenger and True Sight - but it depends a little on your playing style and how you build the rest of your characters. If you need punch up front (and maybe want Minsc in the back with a long bow) Keldorn is a must; if you need a more stealthy character, a scout/backstabber, Valygar is a good choice (also for Celestial Fury but you probably want that for your Swashbuckler/mage?). And Mazzy is a great back up character - with the Tuigan Bow she fires 4 arrows per round!

Thanks for the advice Aldeth, didn't know that :)

Seems like I should take Keldorn.

I´d kick Anomen and give that slot to Aerie though. Might just be me hating Anomen, but I think she´s a nice addition to most parties since she has pretty many memorization slots for both cleric and mage spells.

For the last slot you should take Keldorn though.

Actually, my swashbuckler get his -1 to Ac at lv5 and another lv10. I do believe that I did make sure I got the bonus when I played with swashbuckler.
I missed out Mazzy's abilities.Victor was correct, she can be a very powerful character. For some reason, although I like Valygar, I don't seems to be able to use him fully as he keeps getting seriously injured most of the time. But thats just me. :nolike:

Why get rid of Nalia? She is near useless as a thief, but is about the best good mage in the game and by the time you get Imoen back Nalia will have many more xp and spells.

Use the 6th slot for all the other NPC's and quests. Grab Yoshimo before going to spellhold and swap him for Imoen.

you'll end up with 2 excellent mages to back yourself up with. or take Haer'Dalis as another backup mage and for his great spins.

You've got the frontline pretty much set with you, Jaheira, Minsc and Ano. So I'd say take Mazzy to hurl arrows from the back. Swashbucklers are devasatingly powerful in ToB...but this isn't the ToB forum.
