I do not know if this question has been asked before, so if it has been, I apologise.

I'm intending to play a shifter, and I want to know if this is worthwile. The mods I use are: G3 fixpack, Improved BAM's, Flirtpack, Keto, Oversight, SP stuff, Solaufein, Valen, Unfinished Business, underrepresented Items, Item-upgrade, improved oasis, Improved thief stronghold and Dungeon Be Gone. (I know a lot of these probably have nothing to do with it, but I figured they might, so i might as well name all of them and the kitchen sink).

When shapechanged, will you keep the effects of weapons? (like Impalers +10 damege, or staff of the Ram's knockback?)

Also, what kind of items can I use/not use? Armour is a bit to broad. does this go for bracers as well?

One final thing, which is slightly (OK very) off-topic: Do your ability scores affect your saves? and if so, how?

You can use Bracers. What you cannot use is Anything that goes in the normal Armor slot on the upper right of Item Screen. So no platemail. No chainmail. No leather. No fancy robe(if they could even wear one). none of that stuff.

Normally I don't think you get the abilities of your weapons. it actually unequips them. There is a trick that does carry over into ToB but it kind of relegates your shapeshifter to combat which the shape shifted form is excellent at. Be in say your Greater Werewolf Form when your turned into a Drow by the Silver Dragon and the weapons will take affect in the shape shifters hands. However when you leave the shape shifted form for the human form then you lose this advantage. It's a cute little glitch in the game you can take advantage of if your driven primarily by Combat and the Shape shifter will outclass guys like Minsc after a certain point. If However you like some of the nasty spells they can cast in Abundance then that is always worthwhile too.

You Werewolf and Greater Werewolf forms however have their own natural AC that is going to outclass your other characters. Any +AC items the Shapeshifter is wearing will lower not only the AC out of the shape shifted form but will also add to this natural AC. With the number of items that can do this you can get them quite the low armor class.

The Regeneration of the GW form is rather noticable. However it's nothing that will be some save all power inside of combat. That's something to be aware of. But it has a visible ammount of healing outside of combat. To me this is just the way that regeneration should be.

As a further note. Something may have caused me to be mistaken but I believe when you rest your Druid's healing spells get cast without moving him out of the GW form. But you can always double check this early on in the first dungeon.

my only true complaint about the class at all is that it cannot cast its spells in shape shifted form. That is the only change that I would ask for and that Change alone would put it on par with anything else capable in the core game if you ask me. It might even turned them over powered with the number of spells they can cast. Specially at high level.

Edit: Keep coming up with new things or fixing mistakes. Another thing to be aware of is that the Staff gotten towards the end of SoA seems almost written for Shape Shifter Druids because of the low AC that it brings to the table when equipped with it's combination of Bark Skin and +3 to AC as well as being a +4 weapon.

My Question is could somebody speak up and say what the shape shifted forms Claws count as naturally?

Sometimes you can get the effects of the weapon you were weilding in your claw attacks, such as Celestial's stunning or SotR knockdown.

You can use bracers, ring and cloaks. I don't know about helmets.

You might want to look into Improved Shapeshifting mod. I think it's part of Ease of Use.

yes you can wear Helmet's. In my current Game Cernd is wearing the Helm of Balduran. It's only the Armor slot that is affected from a normal druid.
