I was just wondering how the constitution bonus works for multi-class characters. Take Jaheira for example- her con is 17. How does the game assign her bonus when she levels up with both or with either, and does her bonus for druid levels actually give her a 17 or a 16?

Druids can only receive +2 HP for CON 17 when leveling. Fighters with 17 CON gain +3 HP.
When J levels as a Druid she will roll an 8-sided dice and add 2, then divide that number by 2. >>> (1d8+2)/2
    As a fighter she'll roll a 10 sided dice, add 3, and divide that by 2. >>> (1d10+3)/2
    .
    Clear as mud, eh?

[IMG] Adding even more clarity: The games also seems to be rounding up decimal places. For instance, a level 1 fighter/cleric with CON 17 has 12 HP (i.e. 7 points from the fighter + 5 points from the cleric class).

Edit: Although I do not know whether this would also be true for a multi-class character with three classes.

And a constitution of 20 gives you a regeneration bonus. That is a cool thing to have!

[IMG] It's good to see you have your cheating priorities down pat. ;)

I think the only way to get a 20 under normal conditions is to play a dwarf and use the tome of CON on him.

You could also be the God of Patience and go through BG1 more than once so you could get multiple copies. Oh what fun that would be.

Infact that is normally the only thing I cheat as it still somwhat preserves the balence of the game. However if I want to have a tank you should look at my clerics if I go all out 25 for str, dex, con, wis. using full plate with a +2 cloak of protection, and large shield plus 1, +4vs missiles sorry dont have TOTSC.

Has anyone ever rolled a 24 for hitpoints, on Jaheira's first level up? All I can get is a 23 :bang: She starts with 12, so I assume she can get 24 :hmm:

Well, at her first level Jaheira gets 6,5 + 5 hit points, that comes 11,5 hp, rounded up to 12. At her next level maximum is only 11, because on the first level she already got that half hit point. Eh, clear, isn't it?

So her max hit point advancement would be 12,23,35,46,58...? Assuming you wait to level up evenly.

It is my experience that, in the case of MC characters which are part fighter / ranger, the fighter-based CON bonus is applied to BOTH classes (and divided by two, of course). I am presently playing through BG with an MC Ranger / Cleric, and at level-up time, I get (10+4)/2 = 7HP per Ranger level, and (8+4)/2 = 6HP per Cleric level, rather than the (8+2)/2 = 5HP that might be expected.

    @Harkle:

Are you sure of this? I've always thought it worked like this (I have never tested this to a solid conclusion):

    (10+3+8+3) / 2 = 24 / 2 = 12
    No remainder.

However, when she next levels (I can't remember whether it's a fighter or a druid level she'll get first, but it doesn't matter)

    (8+3) / 2 = 11 / 2 = 5.5 = 5 remainder .5

so she can only get 5 this level, but next level:

    (10+3) / 2 = 13 / 2 = 7.5... +.5 = 8

Some of this experience is based in BGII, which renders this data even more unreliable... I'll do some more testing and post back at some point.
