I've just posted an email to Bioware, where I begged them to continue this great saga, because I think it would be cool to see what happens when the PC gets a normal life. And also because, as long as the PC is alive the saga have the possibility of continuation. So why not get to play the last years of the PC's life, before dying of old age? Complete with romances, both new and continued ones from BG2: ToB... Well I think IMHO that a BG3 would be most welcome, because the ending in BG2: ToB really sucks...
(only get to play 420 days (ingame time) from start of BG to end of BG2: ToB) 1½ year cut out of the PC's life... not much...

Hope to see a lot of reviews in here on THIS topic...

You may be out of luck

Many people have probably discussed a BG3, but really what is the point? The BG series is focused mainly on the Aulando prophecy, starting with discovery ending when the outcome is completed, it is finished and hardly continuable what would the story be?

It may sound good to you but if you think about it, it would be BAD

If you want to know what happens, try writing about what you think will happen, make it into a story or something. Somwone may be interested and perhape even make something of it

Well, just because the PC no longer carry the essence of Bhaal, it doesn't meen that he can't go around and preventing others from trying to steal the essence for them selves... Remember??? The essence itself was never destroyed, only hidden away at/in a mountain...

So it should be possible for someone like Mellisan or Irenicus to simply steal it and attach the essence to their soul, like Mellisan did...

    Something like that yes.
You have to agree: As long as the game don't end with a movie showing the PC dying of old age or self-sacrifice, then the story about the PC will never end...

The prophecy of Aloundo might be the main theme in the BG series, but it's just like when you go to school, it's a PART of your life, not all of it (unless you are totally stupid)...

To admit it, I was ALLMOST crying when I had seen the end movie, and read the small stories about those in my party... It was just so god damn beautifull, but then I became sad because the story about the PC, and the romances are litterally over before they start (ie. Jaheira romance, "No Khalid is dead... Blah Blah Blah ...Stay with me tonight <CHARNAME>... Blah Blah Blah ...Jaheira, I love you so I resign my heritage..." end of romance??? Missing the story afterwards)

Well enough whining for today... let's continue this tomorrow...

[IMG] BG3 is already being developed, as a press release issued not long ago confirmed. Not by BioWare though, since their falling out with Interplay also means that they won't be producing any more games for them. Interplay holds the licence to the name Baldur's Gate. So who knows who's developing BG3... Probably BIS.

There will be other games. Wonderfull ones. Forget the BG-series. Let it rest in peace as a milestone in CRPG. A beautifull one.

Of course you can always make you own Mods...
The battles with Cyric. Powerfractions etc. A more sophisticated game. Anyway this could be where PnP takes over. Let your characters continue in High level campaigns with a human DM. ;)

    ahhhh.....

I still have sad memories of the end of the ORIGINAL Pools of Radiance "gold box" series ending and "Unlimited Adventures" being released. Very similar to BG/NWN. Don't fret. There are plenty of new games, adventures, romances, defeats, and fun fun fun, left to unfold in the relm of fantasy. I've got a feeling I'l be playing D&D computer games when I'm a granddaddy.

[IMG] Which isn't so far away Llandon :p
    Heck I don't have far :mommy: :D

    Sorry

When I in the near future settle down for good (preferably late 20ties), I would love to watch my child play the BG-games. Just to observe his/her face and impressions... D&D games are timeless.
I am getting older just by saying that, ain't I?

BG3? What if your main character turned into a god? Will it be Baldur's Gate: SimGod?

Would be easy. If your character turned into a god, which is the only option for a good selfrespecting powergamer :) , then he'd go through BG3 like a god, be it evil or good. He'd be way too strong, overpowered and omnipotent, like a good powergamer wants his characters. :D

[IMG] SlimShogun & Co., there is no other info except that BG3 will be made, sometime in the future. That's it. That's all, and even that much was said between the lines. Don't count on seeing BG3 before at least 2 or 3 more years pass.

its like on the char generation sceern it says "god or human" then you pick if your good, neutral, EVIL then at the end of the game you have to talk to Alundo(or whatever his name is) then you go to bg4

then you go bg4 thats an expanchion and you get new goodies!;):evil::flaming:

Why would it have to continue with the same character? Why not start out as, say, Aerie's child? Or some other youngster in the game, oh, I dunno, the kid who steals the whatchamadoodle from the scroll vendor in Saradush...

I don't think the game would be a helluva lotta fun if you ran around as a god the whole time. Does a god need to rest? Detect traps? What would it be, one long series of gladiatorial cage-matches with other gods? Would anything less than a god, or demon (and remember, we've already whacked their prince) provide any real challenge?

No...I say start all over, level zero, a related plot, not a continuation of the original.

    My two centavos.

Hmmm good idea you've got there Gonzago.

Hmmm why not say that BG3 is set 15-20 years after the end of BG2: ToB, so no matter what romance you took, you can play as either the child of PC-Aerie, PC-Anomen, PC-Viconia or PC-Jaheira (this one could be fun I think).

Now you might ask why 15-20 years, well lets just say that this would be the perfect age for a child of one of the four romances, and at that time I'm sure that they all would have done a little nookie or two...
