Just wondering what everyone's favourite creature is. Mine's either Orcs or Liches.

 

Cool, I'd have to agree Dragons are pretty cool.

Far too many to choose from really. The nastiest is the Taresque I think, and definately one of the coolest. What's the winged creature with the three heads: a goat, a lion, and a dragon. That's one of my favorites for sure.

 

Chimera. I'll post my favorite later when the inspiration strikes me. I agree that the tarrasque is pretty cool though.

Those giant turtle things that started with a Z. Can't remember the name, those things that are as big as an island and just eat and sleep.

Dammit, can't remember the name.

Doppelgangers they rock, can fool almost anybody with those.

And of course there are goblins and kobolds. OK they are weak but You just gotta love them, give them a few lvl of fighter or sorcerer and they'll give your PC's a real lesson. "DON'T UNDERESTIMATE YOUR OPPONENTS"

 

I prefer Giants, any kind will do.

 

I've always been fascinated by gnomes. They are neat lil buggas.

 

Dragons, drakes, wyverns, hydrae... Basically everything lizard like. And undead of course. (undead dragons... woo!) I really like all 'combination' monsters too (combinations of natural creatures, like chimerae, griffons etc.)

Seriously, Mind Flayers seem cool to me. I'm not a big pen and paper (A)D&D person so I don't know how much of an issue they are in that but in BG2 I like them. I love their note in the sewers which reveals part of their plans to overtake Athkatla. I don't know if they're any Star Wars buffs around but appearance wise Mind Flayers look similiar to Quarren. Anyone notice this?

Yes, There is such a thing as a Dragon Lich, in fact it would be a very powerful foe indeed.

 

The most dangerous monster in any GM's arsenal: The player character.

 

The coolest creature i think is the tarrassque. I think it is also the most dangerous next to the older forms of dragons.

 

In regard to the Dragon Lich, I don't think we need to go there. 3E has fixed the issues with Dragons and they are powerful enough now to beat down most parties. Anything with a AC of 48, SR of 42 and a damage resistance will be more than a hand full for all but the most powerful of adventures, as it should be. If you need to make it worse you always have the new dragon stats from the Manual of the Planes.

 

The Dragon liches, or Dracoliches as they are called, are described in detail in the forgotten realms campaign setting. Very nasty things they are. Quite cool too, though my favorite would have to be elves.
