    Hi,
I recently installed a mod, dunno which...but it was the one with the Improved Thief Stronghold, and I can't seem to find out which because I have a lot of them installed.

The problem is, whenever I cast the spell 'Lower Resistance' on anyone, it doesnt say "XXX's resistance was lowered by ** %", instead some random dialog from the mod crops up in the text window on screen. Any ideas on how to get rid of this?

Also, another doubt which is kind of unrelated to this...might sound very newbie-ish...but, what is IIRC? I'm a little new to all these abbreviations and would appreciate it if someone could tell me what it stands for.

IIRC is "if I remember correctly."

If the problem has only started occurring with the latest mod you installed, try re-installing just that mod. Otherwise, when you see strings start to get mixed up like that it's time to consider a full re-install. I've never had any problems with WeiDU mods, but even they can have a screwy install if (for example) you try to install a mod while either BG2 or a BG2 editor (ShadowKeeper, Near Infinity, etc) is running.

Thanks for the tip CamDawg...explains a lot of IIRCs in messages I've read here. And as for the string... it only displays strings from the Improved Thief Stronghold mod,so if someone could tell me which mod it is, I'd uninstall it...and no, its been around for a while, I only got really pissed about now, coz I was doing the Twisted Rune and Layenne's resistance was lowered.and I didnt know how much and I got skewered coz I blew all my spell slots.

Anyway, I would appreciate it if someone could tell me.

This problem is usually caused by uninstalling a mod, then installing multiple mods in a different order. It causes problems with save games like the one you're describing.

Try a new game. If that fixes the problem, then I'm right, but there's nothing you can do about the current one.

No, I'm pretty sure that the error with the strings came only after that Thief Stronghold Mod was installed, but I dunno which mod that was! Also, does anyone know of the incompatibilities, if any, between various mods? And all the mods I've used so far have been Ascension, Redemption...etc..etc.. which have used the Weidu format.

Anyway, would re-installing the game take care of all the problems? Also, is the game fully compatible with Win XP? Because my girlfriend tried playing it on her system, and couldnt get past the lightning machine in Chateau Irenicus.

Mods that use the weidu install should be compatible with each other.

mods such as the darkest day and shadows over soubar isnt compatible with any other mods exept weidu mods.

when installing mods, do it in this order:

1 non-weidu mod (shadows over soubar and so on)
Fixpack, most preferably one that is compatible with the non weidu mod you install.
    Weidu mods

No, the game is not fully compatible with Win XP, but installing the patch should fix those problems.
