[IMG] Well...We Americans bastardized a perfectly good comedy from our British friends! I watched the American version of Coupling tonight, it doesn't even compare to the original.

Even though the episode was roughly identical to the original, the American cast couldn't pull it off! Why didn't they just start airing the original Coupling on primetime over here instead? It's a gazillion times better!

Has anyone else seen the original and the American version? If so, what did you think?

I seem to have discovered the key to american humour. It all seems to be circumstatial. People get into 'humourous' postitions and have to get out of it. British and Australian humour tends to revolve more around witty dialogue etc. rather than circumstance. Thats probably the problem with the american vesion.

That and its not the original.

Yeah, I wasted five minutes of my life that I will never get back on that show. Couldn't stand it. So the remote got picked up. The canned laughter that was the same everytime was annoying as all hell too. Especially since the jokes sucked. I think there was laughter after like the second line and it was in like the middle of the joke.
Another thing that annoyed me that NBC did was run Friends and Will & grace for 45 minutes a piece. I like those shows, but once W&G was over, anything else worth watching was in the middle of the story.

:yot: I know but I found the same with Queer As Folk. Absolutely LOVED the Brit version but couldn't stand the American version.

Another case of the original always being better. The original is almost without error vastly better than any remakes. Here in Sweden we tend to import sit-com ideas from abroad, mostly the US and UK and the Swedish versions always sucks alot, I have never seen the originals here but I know that the remakes are very very bad.
