[IMG] Just out of curiosity, I'd like to know what your favourite crafting recipes are. How did you make your characters custom weapons?

My preference for my weapons master is pretty basic: I like enchanted, keen weapons. I would like to add massive criticals, but I can't find a recipe :(

I found the holy weapon with 2d6 damage against evil absolutely devastating. In fact I prefer my keen katana +3 over it because it makes fighting less cheesy.

Btw, anyone who has an idea on the impact characteristic for blunt weapons?

I made various Greatswords. Each was a different material (Adamantine, Cold Iron, Silver), and I'd add the highest +N enchantment I could, 2d6 Vs. Evil (except to the Adamantine since it can't accept as many enchantments) and a 1d6 elemental damage (shock, frost or fire).

I find that keen weapons are a bit of a waste as the keen bonus doesn't stack with improved criticals so I would rather take the feat and get a different weapon enhancement. My favourite is a +5 holy vampiric regeneration 5 combo.

It does not stack with improved critical?! I noticed the numbers not being re-adjusted in the game and thought it a bug.

BTA, I started a similar exercise for Katanas, and already have one of alchemical silver, keen, +3 and holy and one made of iron, named 'The Equaliser', unenchanted, with 2d6 vs chaotic and lawful ;) (... if I only knew where I get those ideas ...), and one made of cold iron and another one in darksteel.

A weapon I want to make is a warmace, or maybe a shortsword or dagger, probably adamantite, with fire damage and flaming burst. Want to give it to Khelgar, if I make the mace, or Shandra or Neeshka for the small blades. Still searching for a decent enchanted shortsword for Shandra, as she has become quite a tank.

I'd like to craft a 'Holy Greater Hammer for Good Order' for Casavir, holy and against chaotic. Enchantment or material undecided yet.

I chose the material to get by DR. Adamantine came in handy for the Iron Golems and monsters that threw up Stoneskins.

The only issue with crafting is there aren't that many of the high quality gems around, so you can make several highly enchanted weapons but not several for every party member. I think I made most for myself and maybe one or two for Khelgar.

Yes indeed. It is hard to find all these gems and essences. I actually hate it to wander around from trader to trader, so I have started to buy everything I see that I can afford and carry it around in a magic bag. I then store it in Fort Locke.

Enchanting is way harder to do than crafting.

Besides, is the forge in Fort Locke the only one available?

No, everywhere you have your "base" contains all three workbenches, and you occasionally find them in dungeons.

Oh, by the way, if you have someone with the alchemy skill and a mortar and pestle, you'll have plenty of essences of each type.

Oh yes. I just noticed. Somewhat embarassing I never bothered looking at the map in the Flagon. Uh, thanks for the hint :) ... and I've been travelling all over Faerun toget a blade forged

JSBB, I discovered a recipe for vampiric regeneration  ... that combined with holy weapon :holy: ... would be odd.

Yeah a vampiric holy weapon does seem kind of odd doesn't it. I ended my first run through the game with two of my +5/holy/vampiric 5 specials - my trust alchemical silver rapier for my duelist and a cold iron greatsword for Khelgar.

I prefer to avoid adamantine for my main weapons as it takes up an enchantment slot but I carried around holy adamantine back-up weapons. There really are not that many enemies who use stoneskin or need adamantine weapons to hit but there are plenty of demons/devils where the silver or cold iron comes in handy.

I have eventually settled on my weapon of choice for my weapon master. Somewhat pusistic, I admit: An adamantine Katana +4 with massive criticals. At a crit range from 15-20 that's devastating enough. Using power attack, I have crits in the 90 damage range now, without magic damage. At Crossroads Keep that meant instakill against those puny spellcasters, and then, cleave, and critical again.

My char has STR 22 now (thanks to frost giant strength), wielding the katana two handed, normal and greater weapon focus and specialisation, weapon of choice, incrased multiplier, power critical feats.

For special occasions I have a holy disruption silver katana, and two holy vampiric katanas made of cold steel and dark steel. For fun I crafted a knockdown feat adamantite warmace with massive criticals. I find that very fitting. With such gear that blade golem at Crossroads keep was pathetic.
I got a defending mithral longsword for notoriously weak Sand. Sidenote: I found that mithral and cold iron at times only allowed for two enchantments. My char is wearing a fortified mithral breastplate +4. I handed by mithral scales to Neeshka.

And thanks for the alchemy tip BTA, since discovering the ability to produce the various essences for crafting from loot crafting became way easier.
