We would need a little more info to help. Do you have any mods, have you patched the game, have you played through the game before and if you did, did this area work before? What area exactly does the game crash in?

Happens with or without patch, its when i am installing it crashes then i pull the cd out and in and it installs the game but it apparently skips that area cause couldnt find it with dltcp but its the area 2 areas south of beregost and 1 area over nashkel, but its not an importent area so could i just change the area over it to go directly to nashkel?

Sounds like your disk is damaged or corrupted, there may be wyas to fix it, but I am afraid that I don't know how other than buying a new copy of the game.

I've fixed it myself by editing the world map to skip that area, it doesnt have any effects on the game anyway other than wasting time, but i am sooner or later buying tosc so no problem

Maybe, though I'd recommend that you try to clean the CD first, as Dranalis suggested.

The thing is, if you burn the disc, the damaged areas could be just filled with zeroes. Certain imaging programs work that way. For music, that is acceptable. For programs however, each individual zero and 1 is important. But you can always try it.
