    Well two questions
    Is it overpowered?

    Well i created this for
    Long Sword : 1d8+5, +5 thaco
    Imm. Level drain
    +2 ac bonus
    regenerates 1hp per 10 sec :)
Usable only by good alligned rangers

I think it is maybe overpowered, but there is no long sword in the game that can match crom foeyr/carsomyr/flail of ages, so i created one.. :)

And yes my secondqustion is, why it wont display text that i wrote for him when i got it into game (everything worlks, effects are working, it even displayes icon on character, but there is no discription)

Also I'm thinkig on creating some Helmet or Belt, since the only good helmet is Baldurans (ok and H.of defence and Helm of glory are fine.. )

Arguably the most powerful weapon in the game, Blackrazor, is a long sword. Granted, you can only get it--short of cheating--as an evil character.

Also, only two items in the game grant Negative Plan Protection when equipped, so any weapon that includes it is already a bit suspect in my eyes. If you're looking for something to give an edge against undead, consider making NPP an X times per day ability, or susbstitute a different ability.

Backstory on a weapon is key. Weapons of this caliber must have a very well-thought out background and story, since the effort to make a +5 weapon is considerable. You may even consider making this an artifact-type weapon that needs to be asembled by Cromwell.

In regards to belts, between the numerous belts of strength and the Belt of Inertial Barrier, I think there are plenty to go around.

I don't agree with this "overpowered - not-overpowered" judging style. If you complete many hard quests and solve a lot of riddles for a good item for example, you deserve it. If you find it in a street in a box/keg/jug/jar/etc., then you don't deserve it and it is overpowered in this context... The term "overpowered" should be a relative base of comparing. Certainly there are items which are so crazy and powerful that they shouldn't be in the game at all, no matter how you can get them.
So before judging an item/spell/etc., one should check and consider how much work it needs to get in the game.
Anyway, in the "absolute" meaning of "overpowered", your item isn't overpowered.

What does it say exactly? Empty text or "<Invalid Reference>" or "<Not Available>".? The dialog.tlk entries of your item file refer to other texts (texts you type while creating an item aren't stored in the item file but in dialog.tlk which is in your BGII directory, and the item (.itm) files just refer to the correct text in dialog.tlk).
The problem can be that your dialog.tlk has changed so your original texts for your item were lost or overwritten. In the item editor you use (I suppose IEEP), you can always see a number (the tlk entry reference, or StrRef) near the window where you type the item descriptions. If you edit another item or anything (e.g. a spell) which uses and writes to dialog.tlk, make sure that that number wasn't used before. If you see <Invalid Reference>, you can always overwrite it, because that is an empty place. If you see other texts (Including "<not available>"), don't overwrite them.
If you pay attention to all those above, you can make the descriptions for your own items properly. Although if you want to give the item to someone else, the descriptions will lose if you don't store them, and you cannot give your whole dialog.tlk to someone else. So this is another question.

Why don't people like the Equalizer? I remember when I just started playing BG2, it was one of my favourite weapons.
This is because you somehow failed to update dialog.tlk to include the new string resources. You can add them into the game using any good dialog editor (or things like weidu).

I've never liked the Equaliser because it requires a lot of effort to assemble and just isn't that great an item. A +3 sword might be nice but there are better ones out there that can be obtained far more easily. Why not go after Licarcor? Or, better still, give swords a miss and go straight for the Flail of Ages, one of the best weapons in the whole game and one that can be obtained without too much trouble.

To Baronius : In the editor it shoes text that i put in there, but in the game it displays some note, somethin like "Why you hasnt brought the gem - Oh i havent bought it yet"... X file :D :)

And by the way thnx, i realized now what is the problem... I First saved my item elsewhere, and then just copy/paste it to Overrride, so the ieep didn't saved the text in dialogue file :)

I dont know to use editor well, that I could make item to be created by Cromwell...
Equalizer is very good swor ( plus it looks fantastic ) but you get it too late in the game...
And i made this cause, i needed a Negat.Plane Prot and a strong sword that can hit any enemy ( i use dual wielding, so i cant gat for me any 2-handed that are +4 or higher )

The only problem is I'm not skilled enough to create few items, that later can be used to forge this sword...I just get it by Cluaconsole :(
But Ill learn i guess, through time :D
Anyway ppl thnx 4 tha help :D :)

If you head to Spellhold as soon as possible, you can get all the components needed for the Equaliser at a reasonably early stage in the game. Still not work it IMHO but you don't *have* to wait till the game's almost over before using it.

[IMG] Well, I fixed the problem, so my sword has a descripiton...and its woring very well :) :)
Maybe it is overpowered at the begining of the SoA, but later it will be as good as any weapon :)

And one more question, when you play Good party, do you use only Imoen as a Mage ( I hate Nalia, and Aerie isnt that great, since shes multi... )
Im thinkin of gettin some item similar to edwins necklace, but with less power, for Imoen ( Nothin similar exist, so i would create one ) cause, she uses Ring of Danger sense and cannot use Ring of Acuty and Wizardy, which makes her not so great mage, and since shes the only Thief and Mage in my party...
What do you think, will that disturb balance of the game ?

It would be kind of overpowered in the sense that the Rings of Wizardry and Acuity were rings and not amulets...because they are meant to make you choose between the rings for the wizard and for the thief...I know I'm not making much sense.

What I mean to say is that if you were a Thief/Mage, it wouldn't be fair to use both the mage rings and the thief rings...all these great rings out there are meant to make you choose between all of them so that the character would be balanced.

If you make an amulet of wizardry acuity :p :p :p it would be overpowered because then Imoen would be having her cake and eating it too.

I don't use the Equalizer because:

    1. You can't make it until Chapter 6, and by that time, you have loads of +3 weapons.

    2. It is sorely outclassed by the weapons in ToB.

There's nothing intrinsically wrong with the weapon, other than the fact that it always counts as a +3 in determining what it can hit, which by late SoA/ToB equates to not much. If it was obtainable earlier in the game, it would be a must-have weapon. But if I'm using longswords, by the time I could craft it, I'm usually carrying around Blade of the Roses, Daystar, and Dragon Slayer, meaning I already have something that is at least a +3 weapon to hit something, so spending 10,000 gp on what turns out to be a duplicate effect seems a waste.

Item Upgrade mod makes those two rings into one ting - the Sorcerian Ring. Not perfect but better than needing to have two rings.

About your Ranger sword, i think its fine because only rangers, thieves and bards can use it and that in my book is a disadvantage as the only ranger I like is the archer. Maybe you could place it on the Shadow Dragon?

The Sorcerian rings sounds fine.. :D :)
Well i know it is, so i think i will not use that amulet that i made ( +2 spells/level ) ITs just too powerful...
ANyway, Im using SK to see what items exists in the game so... Where can i find Gold Ioun Stone ( +1 INT ), I would like to give it to Imoen, so she can learn LVL 9 spells..
Did anyone try to play as Imoen only Mage, and is she good ?

I could put in on SHadow Dragon, but i dont know how... anyway, Im going to start BGII ( i finished bg I with this ranger of mine ) so Ill probably going to use CLUAC. to get that sword...Ill use it till the end of ToB :D
ANd its possible that my second sword will be Equalizer, or Blade of Roses :D

I believe that the Arcana Archives sells a Golden Ioun Stone, provided that you are patched and Baldurdashed. I could be wrong, however.

To put something on a creature you have to set SK to let you override the cre. files. Then you go into the creatures inventory and put the desired item there. Warning: make a back up copy of the original first. You can also give the NPC's in the game portraits this way.

About Imoen, She is one hell of a mage in my books. I prefer her over Edwin at times because I use the mod 'Magnificant Magic Store' which sells bracers that give +2 Intellegence and eventually allows the purchase of the Wizards Amulet - Which is powerful and Edwin can't use.

Imoen's a decent substitute for Edwin if you're playing a good party, but I'd never take her as my primary mage in Edwin's stead. The +2 spells per level that Edwin gets give him an edge over any mage in the game.

[IMG] You want an overpowered sword? ;)

    Try Charon's Claw.

I created it myself straight out of Servant of the Shard. I reread sections of the book and gave it a perfect description. Gleaming red blade and gauntlet, I've never liked any other items better. I considered adding that the blade would kill you if you didn't equip the gauntlet, but enh.. I didn't. I prefer not to have to constantly remember not to take off my glove.

And the effects are staggering. I won't list them here, since they are a bit much. But I gave it every single ability present in the book.

Now, as to the actual usage of these overpowered weapons, I was against them a long time ago. But now it's different, and I know I'm not alone when I say I know more about this game than is probably healthy. I've made items, spells, characters and monsters, and the game just gets boring after a while and needs a good exotic spice.

I don't play for the purpose of roleplaying anymore. I play as pumped up solos that actually exist elsewhere. Artemis Entreri dual weilding an editted Jeweled Dagger(life stealing) and Charon's Claw. Or my favorite, Davaeorn, the mage that puts Irenicus to shame. Or Jarlaxle, imagine his little collection... :D

Is the same Davaeorn you fight in the Cloakwood Mines in BG1? If so he'd hardly put Irenicus to shame if a party of 4-5 level can get the better of him.

[IMG] Heh, no, this is another Davaeorn. I did get the name from BG1 though.
