Here's the deal, write up a short thing for an original creature. May or may not include D&D stats, it doesn't matter really. It can be from any world, or from none at all, whatever.

    Herflings

Herflings are demonic creatures living in the Upper Plane of existance. The serve the evil Templar (demi-god) Herf.
Herflings generally have black hair, though other dark colours have been heard of. In contrast, their skin is very pale. From their back protrude two long wings, which are transparent and rounded at the end, with silver paterns going through them (think the upper half of a dragonfly). The wings, despite the laws of physics, allow the Herflings to fly. It is thought that this may be because of Herfling magic, though this theory has never been tested.
The magic of the Herflings is granted to them by Herf. When the Herflings use Herfy magic, they glow an aqua colour.
Herflings are usually armed with a falchion, which glows aqua and is shot through with silver threads.
Once Herflings were human, but long ago Herf corrupted the ancestors of the current generation. There are a few who have been corrupted recently, but they're shunned around Herfyville.

(This was created be my and Rotku, quite obviously based on Herf and is for the KoSP )

    [IMG] Crophenisk

A giant snake creature, like an enourmous cobra with a spined hood and two a pair of venomous fangs. Has a forked tail used to whip. Can either use it's poisonous bite which has a powerful acid that can burn through quite a few metals or breath a fine spray of acid. It is immune to Acid, poison, blindness and bludgeoning weapons. it is weak to electricity. You can tell a Crophenisk by it's black scales with bright green markings along the back. Lives in barren places such as Nasret and Wildre in Chirofen. My land :)

Trrak-- tall, minotaur/orc creatures with red eyes that have no pupil or white. They are creatures of war. They eat the bodies of the dead and consumer their souls. They have a very good sense of smell, but limited eyesight. They're from my world of Ithis.

The Hunters-- wolf-headed, reptile/lion bodied (built like lions, scaled like reptiles). They have human-like eyes. They are their name: hunters. Trrak and Hunters often 'work' together. Hunters are persisent trackers, but not subtle. Anything living they come across, they kill, leaving a trail of destruction that often alerts the hunted of the Hunters. Also, obviosly, from Ithis.

Flygers: Larger than normal-sized tigers with very large mutli-colored wings. They are able to talk in the common language of humanoids and are quite intelligent. They are fascinated with astronomy and being monotheistic, beleive that God sends them messages via the stars. They are deadly enemies of the crows and will attack any they find without pause. They are good creatures who believe in helping other races and stay slightly secluded due to the Flyger City (where the majority of them live) which is hidden by an invisibility dome, thereby preventing many other races from knowing about it. They like to live up in trees but also live in large crystalline buildings in the Flyger City. They have a government of elected officials who make the majority of decisions but mostly concern themselves in the defense of the Flyger City from the crows and in astronomy. They are known to help lost travelers though and some of them enjoy going on quests. -- From my own world of Ecruos ;)

[IMG] Taernes - These can barely be called creatures, for they posses no psyhical form. They are merely spirits, a mind with no body. However they cannot live long on Toril without a physical body. Too uncomfortable. They posses some magic degree, though it is a strange magic, mostly concerned with creation and replicating of suitable cases for them. Living or not, it does not matter much. In a way then they could be called shapeshifters, becouse their magic also enables to those more experienced, to warp his current body. But it takes a greater expertise than just inhabiting one. Also living forms are more difficult to warp.
Naturaly all of their abilities and skills make them perfect spies and informants. Taking just what ever form certainly is a rather convenient way of spying.
Though most do not try to inhabit other creatures, some who have turned evil do. It is a draining fight - taking over a body of some other will. It is much easier to just recreate one, and those who are evil are doing so only of contempt and malice.
They are a more neutral race, from their own plane of existance where they do not need physical forms to survive. There they form a collective mind - a hive. In a material plane their mind connections are much weaker and are limited to short telephatic messages. Current form does not hinder these.

The reason for venturing into Toril is sometimes adventorous, and most times curiosity. Their collective mind can store amazing quantities of information... which they get from Toril.
Thus, they are before anything else - observers as a collective. Individuals have more freedom as long as they do not seriously disturb what is already there.
