[IMG] Has anyone seen this movie?

It has yet to be released here in Edmonton, but it looks fairly decent. I think it's on my next to see list. I've looked at some of the trailers and read some reviews. Looks good.

It's only released in New York right now; I think it goes wide in U.S. the week of Christmas. Are you in England? Then you may be waiting awhile.

Really looking forward to it, though; it's been winning award after award and has a Best Picture buzz. It looks really interesting.

[IMG] Lord Moeken, you live in Edmonton? Heh, cool. Go bang on Bioware's door. Ask for a beta of NWN. :D
    (Bioware is based in Edmonton).

I saw the clip of it on Cable TV. It stars Michelle Yeoh. One of Southern Cal Universities has a web site up showcasing several of her movies. I went ahead and gave it a visit.... it's sharp.

I definitely have an interest in seeing the movie. It appears that it will be a very modernized and serious movie with a mystical theme. Here's the link:

I believe it will be showing here in Southern California shortly -if it's not already.

I really want to see it too! I saw the trailer on a Total Movie DVD I get in the mail...It looks pretty good!

I also started taking martial arts about 5 months ago, so now I'm into movies like this on a whole new level.

I've watched it already many months ago.
The fight scenes are pretty good but it's more of an introspective zen story instead of a hero kicking ass.
Some might find it difficult to digest.

Heard that the movie is being released here in Western Canada this Thursday.

I think I could use a bit of introspective zen. Hey Shura, how did you manage to watch it a few months ago? It looks as though the movie has a unique cast and story line. Chow Yun Fat (sp?) is given the marquee, but I believe it is the female characters that carry the plot (and do most of the fighting). I've heard that there are two fight sequences in particular that give the viewer a dream-like, transcendance feeling.

Hey Taluntian, do you think if I stop by Bioware to sing a few carols and pass out some Christmas cheer (tequila shots) They might give me a beta copy?

It's been playing film festivals for many months, so that's probably how he saw it. I'm not normally into kung-fu movies, but the director is Ang Lee (Sense and Sensibility, The Ice Storm), who is known more for his acclaimed human dramas than for action flicks. But the action sequences in Crouching Tiger are supposed to be mesmerising - people skipping across lakes like thrown pebbles, people running up tree trunks and walls; coupled with what is supposed to be a solid romantic story and great acting, it should be incredible. I think Time Magazine just named it movie of the year. Expect to see it in a lot of top ten lists.

And the lesser know female (not Michelle Yeoh) is the star of the film; Yeoh and Fat (why couldn't Chow Yun Fat take on a cool name like Jet Li?) spend the film persuing her for a magic sword she's stolen.

You can see the trailer online at any number of places (I think aint-it-cool-news.com had it up once and probably still do).

I live in Asia and the movie was screened a loooong time ago. Zhang Ziyi was pretty hot in the movie though.

[IMG] Haha yes, Zhang Ziyi looks pretty hot in the movie, but IRL she looks like....average.

I think the movie has some good points and some bad points. I don't think it's as popular in Asia as in the US or Europe.

Frankly I think the only really cool character was Jade Fox. Look out for that villain and her "ancient shotgun"!
