According to the IWD 2 readme, to use custom portraits you must put the the Large and Small pics in the Portraits folder in your installation directory. Now the strange thing is... I don't HAVE a Portraits folder in my installation directory
Anybody can tell me how to use those custom portraits?

And I already tried making a new Portraits folder. Didn't work.

[IMG] You just make a folder called 'portraits'.

Make sure the pictures you're putting into the folder follow all the naming and format rules.

Dude that didn't work. Formatting and naming is proper, according to the ReadMe file. Any other suggestions?

[IMG] I also put the name of the directory in lower case. Hence why I put it in quote marks, unless you already tried renaming the directory - which you didn't say.

You've got to be doing something wrong... are you sure you're in the right installation directory, at the root? Are you spelling the directory name properly? Finally, what are the file names of the portraits?

    [IMG] Check:

    Size of the portraits.
    Names of the portraits.
    Colour depth.
    Directory name and location.
    File type.

If one of those is wrong then they will not show up properly in the game. It's a lot more finicky than older IE games in that regard.

    portraits

Ajax it really is as simple as the other replies stated. I'm no computer whiz and so even tho' it took me awhile to figure it out, I finally got it. Some portraits I had to resize from earlier and later games set in Faerun. They all work and I have started a new game with my portraits.
As I say I'm no computer whiz so I don't know to tell you other than what has already been stated. Good Luck.

If by chance any of you are good at making portraits to work with this game.... could you possibly make one of Bruce Lee?

Would be cool to have a monk with Bruce Lee's portrait :)
