[IMG] You can download a pretty good collection from the tweak section of the game in this page. Simply unzip the portraits on a "portrait" folder-you'll have to create it-in the Bg2 directory.then, in order to use them you have to click the "custom" button in the appearance section of your character sheet. This can be changed even during play.

How to create portraits is in the manual on pg. 11. I would advise that you not try to do it yet if you don't even know how to create a folder; just download other peoples'.

To create the folder: open your BGII folder. Select "File" on the top bar. Select "New", then "Folder". Left-click on that. You will see a "New Folder" has been created. Right-click on it. Select "Rename". Type "portraits" (no quotation marks). Put any new portraits in this folder.

If you are not proficient with computers I'm supposed to be a computing teacher so, let's start with the basics:

First of all: You've got to be able to locate the BG2 installation folder. Assuming you make a default installation-and just follow on-screen instructions-BG2 main folder is located at C:/program files/black Isle/BGII-SoA folder. All you have to do to locate it is navigate through the proper windows. One of the quickest ways to find it is to type the complete route:

    C:/program files/black Isle/BGII-SoA

in the navigation bar of your windows explorer. So, we are there. Now we have to create a folder inside BGII-SoA folder and it's going to be called "portraits". to do so, we right-click on an empty space in the folder's window and select new-------folder in the menu, and then rename it with the name "portraits". To do so, you just click on "new folder" name and push F2, which enables the "rename" function. Type the name "portraits" on it and it's ready.

Once this is done, put inside the unzipped pictures which will become our custom portraits. To unzip the portraits you'll have to start a winzip format compatible program. Winzip, Winrar or Winace are the most common, and if you play windows XP it has a program embedded that can unzip files. Just double-click on the zip file and when the small menu appears, type in the "destination folder" box:

    C:/program files/black Isle/BGII-SoA/portraits

If you downloaded them from the "tweaks" section of this site, they are in the proper format and ready to use-some of them are really, really cool-

Once you have done that, start Bg2. If the character(s) is already created, you'll have to go to the "customize" section of your character's sheet ( default "R" key or the "head"icon on the left side of the screen) and select the "appearance" button. Just below the first picture is a button called "custom". Click on it and all the pictures found in the "portraits" folder will be displayed. The pictures marked with a capital "L" are for the big portrait, those marked with a capital "S" are for the small portrait. Make sure you choose the same picture for the two portraits and select whatever portrait you like most, return to game and enjoy.

If you are starting a new game just go to the "Appearance" section of character creation and do as explained above.

    Enjoy!
