As the topic suggests, I encourage you to think of a historical person, or persons, and come up with some stats. It can be anything from just the six attributes, to even detailed listing of feats, skills and all - if you feel you have the information needed, or if you feel like letting your creativity loose. You will have to use your imagination, anyway.

    Let me give an example:

Richard Lionheart, aka Coeur de Lion

Fighter (between level 10 and 15 at the end of his career, I guess)

    Traditionally: LG

More realistically: somewhere in the region of moderate lawfulness and non-evil neutrality tending towards good

    STR 18
    DEX 12
    CON 16
    INT 12
    WIS 14
    CHA 16

Feats: Power Attack, Cleave, Weapon Focus & Specialisation: Longsword, Axe, Endurance, Athletic, Leadership, Mounted Combat, Spirited Charge

Skills: Speak Language (French - several dialects, English - he's supposed to have learnt it at some point, perhaps enough of some local Arabic dialect to communicate), Run, Jump, Swim, Diplomacy, Knowledge (religion), Knowledge (nobility and royalty), Diplomacy

In my opinion, D&D is badly suited to represent the real world. For example, only two core classes can't or don't have the potential to use magic or magical abilities. D20 Modern is far better suited (despite the name), since it's actually designed to reflect the real world.

That said, I think Attila the Hun is a very interesting historical figure, especially after watching the movie Attila several times.

Ability scores probably include good physical stats, and also high Cha. Feats probably included anything mounted (Mounted Combat, Ride-by Attack, Spirited Charge), skills probably included Ride (of course), Handle Animal, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Listen, and Spot. Attila would probably have levels in Barbarian.

I really feel that the intangibles like level, hp, etc. are moot, since there's really no decent way of determining whether someone was 5th level or 15th. I'm not even getting into alignment, since that involves determining what is good, evil, law, and chaos in the real world.
