Does anyone know how damage resistance stacks with damage reduction?

For example, the barbarian abilities reduce all damage period, while skills and items like Stone skin give 10/+(something). Are these cumulative, or just the best. Does the cloak of Mystra stack with Abashi hide armor and stone skin?

Mainly I'm trying to see if I can build a character based around damage reduction for tanking. The really high armor classes are rather tricky to make, so I'm trying to see if damage reduction is a viable alternative.

I don't really have any experience with IWD2, but I recall from other 3rd edition games that damage reduction doesn't stack, it just uses the best damage reduction you have.

The armour and stoneskin don't stack. I haven't tried it on a Barbarian so I can't tell but I'd assume Clixby is right.

That is weird...as I have had it stack. Though I don't really recall the rule in PnP. Resistance applies to a type of damage(fire, blunt and such) and reduction just applies to physical but it's all physical up to the enhancement value. I was wearing the Diamond Cutter armor(or whatever full plate you get in the underdark) with Stoneskin and was rducing the damage from the earth elemental in the Battle Square by 11(10 for Stoneskin and 1 from the armor).

Maybe damage resistance (perfect damage protection) stacks with damage reduction (damage protection w/ the exception of + enchantment).

Then within each category, there's some non-stacking. I'd have to play test this or something to see how it works.

forgotten, but equal resistances might stack. Think it should only happen for pure damage resistance X/- and not the +1 or +5 etc.
