Damn Ochre Jellies

    [​IMG] I have a quest from Barud to kill everyone in caves in chapter three. After casting fire spells, horrid wiltiing etc, some of the orginal parents do die but somewhere within the map they keep popping up again.

    Is this normal. Half of a half of a half... essentially=infinite. I can't kill them all and get the reward.

    Also are umber hulks part of the to kill package???

    You had horrid wilting that early in the game? Wow.

    Yeah, the umber hulk and the jellies are included in the "must be killed" package. The only creatures down there that you don't have to kill are the fire beatles behind one of the doors. So yeah, wipe out the jellies, the snow trolls, the umber hulk, and all of those hook horrors (the last group is such a pain!) to complete that quest.

    Wait, how did you talk to that guy unless you got past the Umber Hulk and got the key? That would imply to me that you got rid of all the jellies if you got the key. I dunno, but if you're still having trouble with the jellies, maybe you have some flame potions left over? Y'know, those bottles of oil that you throw at things so they catch on fire? Use those if you have to. My sorcerer didn't run out of spells before I killed all the jellies. And whatever you do, do NOT hit them with weapons. Only use spells and the fire potions. Hitting them with weapons causes them to multiply. Send only your spellcaster against them. Don't worry, he'll be fine.

    Hi thanks for the reply. I am playing HoF mode and with only 4 in my party. hence, I've gotten some pretty cools spells. I got the key because I ran. Killed the ice trolls and ran pass the Shambler got the key and rushed out. the jellies didn't follow... killing them is ok. But it seems that as soon as I kill one the game regenerates another somewhere in the cave and comes for me. Same thing happened in Fell Wood with the spiders and winter wolves. Just can't kill them all. and after a while it gets very frustrating and annoying.

    In HoF mode, that cave SUCKS!!!

    There's about 40 fire beetles. Only about 20 are in that one room when you open it. The rest just spawn in there as you whack the first ones. I mean, it's obvious why the hook horrors are feeding on fire beetles; God, there's enough to go around for everyone!

    Same thing with the hook horrors. Everytime you open a door, a group of them spawns. Just DIE!!

    Same deal with those Ocre Jellies. There's that one area where the parents keep spawning. I'd guess there ends up being something like 12 parents. Which is why it's important to get in there and put some serious beat down on the first 5 or 6.

    That cave is TOUGH!! It's so tough, it's almost retarded. God, why didn't Black Isle just put a dragon or two in there like everyone in NwN does?

    Probably because those few dragons would have been too easy...

    no, the umber hulk don't count but the jellies do. You only have to kill all the monster in that particular area and that's it.
