    Arrrggghhhh!

I really hope I have an old save. I hit a known bug in the Thieves Guild quest line. It happens on occasion that for some unknown reason you aren't formally inducted into the thieves guild, and after completing the quest where you have to burn the beehives, you aren't given the next quest in the line. You know you have hit the bug when you talk to Tonilla, and you get the dialog option "What will you give me for this?" as opposed to "What do you have for sale?"

There is no known fix for the bug, and you cannot proceed with the Thieves Guild quest, as you never get the quest for the Honeybrew Meadary. So you're hosed. I noticed that I didn't immediately get that dialog option - it happened after the third or fourth small jobs mission I got from Vex and Mallory. So I'm hoping if I go back to a save, do the Beehive quest immediately, and then start the small jobs it will be OK. According to the bug reports list it ONLY occurs between the first and second missions, and once you get offered the second mission, the rest of the quest line appears to follow normally.

I was going to link you to the UESP wiki on the Thieves guild, but I think you said you have the xbox version so you don't have access to the console to fix this?

That and mods are the main reason to go for the PC version over any console version.

Yeah I have the XBox version for a few reasons actually.

    1. My 4-year old wanted a Kinnex.
    2. My computer is dinosaur, and couldn't even run the game.
    3. The cost differential between a new PC and XBox360 + Kinnex, combined with the bonus of ending the incessant badgering by my son made it a relatively easy purchase decision.

Bottom line is I don't have access to the console to change any type of status affects on any quest, person, or object.

another reason to get the pc version over the console version is unoffical patches that patch bugs like this so that you never run into them. also for prettying up the rest of the game such as making the water look and behave much better. Little touches like that go a long way in making the game better in my opinion. As for your issue try going with an older save and at least starting the beehive quest it should let you continue perfectly fine.

In my first run I always kept 4-5 saves active in preparation of things like this but after untold hours of gaming I have never needed to use them and in my latest game I have almost exclusively relied on the auto-saves (of which you have four so they might even be able to help you out).

Yeah, on consoles you only get the official patches - I do like the new death animations that actually work for bows now.

Had an old save, and finished up the thieves guild this weekend - only had to redo about 30 minutes or so of same time. I just made sure I did the first mission of burning the beehives prior to doing any of the jobs - of which I have to have done about 30 at this point - now that I'm guild master, they pay 500 gold each, in addition to whatever you can loot along the way, and they are SO quick and easy.
