[IMG] I'm getting really perturbed! The Darkest Day is supposed to have some major quest after Jon Boy bites it. Here's the problem: I can't save the stupid game. I have played through that moronic shattered ending in hell at least three times trying to get to a point where I can save, and every time my computer eventually crashes or I lose the opportunity for the quest. I once made it as far as the meeting in Candlekeep where I got the quest, but still couldn't save. Whenever I try to save, I get the "Can't save, monsters are around" error.

I finally got the thing to save by exiting the room where Ellesime revives me. I exited with my party before approaching her for the Darkest Day quest, and managed to get the thing to autosave. Great! Or so I thought. Once I went back in, she was gone! Now there is no way to trigger the quest, and even no way to go on to the throne.

I'll be "damned" (literally!) if I'm going to play that dumb ending in hell again just to crash my computer again because the game won't save. Is there any way to force the quest and transport to Candlekeep from a save game in Suldanessellar after the return from hell?

My advice, and you may not like it ...

Uninstall everything having to do with BG2. Then reinstall all your BG2 stuff excluding The Darkest Day.

Your are by far not the only one who's had horror stories to relate in SP about The Darkest Day. I consider myself lucky to have gotten all the feedback before learning the hard way myself.

I know the thing is supposed to be quite buggy. Actually, though, I was sort of hoping to run through it once. The minor quests all worked well, and a new quest and change of scenery would be nice. Any idea if there is a code to spawn Ellesime?

I didnt have a clue as to what was happening to DD when i played with it. I installed every mod i could find, without reading any readme's. No doubt some of them excluded each other.

Something had to do something with DD. I didnt even get the last quest at all. And those that i got were all buggy.

My advice stays the same Beren's. Get it off your comp.

BTW i dont know ellesime code :(

Sincerely, the way TDD is bugged, it is not surprising something like that happened to you. I was lucky enough to manage to end it without too many problems (relatively speaking, of course) and my advice is: do not loose too much sleep on missing the supposedly "mega"quest. It is not worth it.

    1. Uninstall all BG stuff.

    2. Listen to some Rammstein.

    3. Install everything, excluding The Dumbest Day.

    4. Play.

Well, if the patched version has most bugs removed, I don't even want to know how bad the unpatched game is.
