I just re-installed Dawn of War 2 and it keeps locking up and making a terrible buzzing sound. I must have had the same problem a long time ago when I first bought it whenever that was. It's an old game so there's no telling.
The game runs for about 1 minute and then locks and my computer makes a terrible buzzing sound. The only way to make it stop is to turn it off. Ctrl+alt+del doesn't work. The PC is locked up.
I've done the usual "Run this program as an administrator" + "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and trying different options there all with no luck.
    I've also tried putting the
    -W
at the end of the "Target" line when you do properties of the shortcut. No luck their either. No window mode.
Any help would be great. I don't remember what I paid for it but I'd like to get at least a little play out of it

That's not a software error, it's a hardware error. If you haven't had any issues with other games, it's probably the game that causes it, but the precise reason is usually hard to find in these cases. One such issue were the recent nVidia driver updates that wreaked havoc on most systems, but just about any component can catastrophically fail to the point where you don't even get a BSoD. First thing to do is check that your drivers are updated. If that doesn't work, check out this guide as well as the comments below it to see if any of the proposed solutions help, assuming you're running an nVidia card (though it might help anyway even if you're not).

Thanks Keneth. I tried the suggestions and got to play about 2-3 minutes and then freeze-buzz again. At least I got to see how it would look if I played it. Lol.

Forgot to mention that yes I am using an NVIVIA card

Yeah, it's probably best that you don't do a whole lot of experimenting. Critical failures like that aren't usually very healthy for your machine.

My bet is on the graphics card, but if you start encountering this problem while doing other stuff as well, you might wanna start checking individual components.

It's not an error. It's a lock-up. If that is still considered an error how can I check it?

It's unlikely anything gets written into the error log in case of a hardware failure. Still, it's worth checking.
