I've seen a few players talk about not resurrecting NPCs and just letting them lay where they died. Not purposefully letting the NPC fight and die, but if Aerie buys the farm, you're not bringing her back to life. (I know Aerie is a bad example since elves are *suppose* to be non-resurrectable. :p )

For those that did play a game in this method, how much fun was it? Or how hard was it?

It depends on how you use NPCs.

If you prefer to gather people and stick with them the whole game you may end up being very frustrated and reloading from time to time when you suspiciously lose a party memeber in an easy fight.

Or like it has been stated in another thread, most NPC quests/normal quests lead you to other NPCs. So if you view SoA NPCs as being temporary and there only for certain quests, losing one from time to time shouldn't be too big of a hit.

I also depends on how many of each 'type' you have, if youre only taking a single tank/mage/cleric then their loss is gonna impact your game quite a bit until you draft in the replacement.

Don't have that question. My party members never die. ;)

But if they did, I could always whip out one of the three Rods of Resurrection and off you go. Of course, if Minsc or Jaheira happens to get dominated/charmed one too many times I might just let them whack each other to death rather than bothering to resurrect them. Or reload if one happens to make meatwad of the other.

And the winner gets stripped of his items and put into the grinder as a reward. Fortunately there are enough other NPCs to replace them.

I don't reload when NPCs die but I do resurrect them when I want them back.
Depending on the difficulty level NPCs can get permanently killed, is that what you mean by "not resurrecting"?

BG 2 is too easy (no, i don't have any mods) for my PMs to die, somehow only I die all the time :D .
But I did try that in BG1, only me and Coran lived after the Sarevok battle. Doing that makes the game feel more realistic, but makes you think "why didn't I just solo this?"

When an NPC dies, they stay dead. No Resurrection spells or rods or tripping off to the Temple with their carcass across your back or reloading the game. It doesn't matter if the game's on Novice or Insane. Dead is dead.

Their death can be from a misplaced spell or a trap or level drained by a vampire ambush. It doesn't matter if Nalia, despite drinking 3 potions of master thievery, trips a trapped container; or Anomen is acting to blaggardy that you send him to fend off Bodhi alone. Should an NPC die, leave 'em for the carrion crawlers to nibble upon.

That sounds pretty cool, actually. Kind of reminds me of Fallout, where dead allies stay dead.
Poor Dogmeat. He was a loyal friend. I miss him to this day.

I think. I do not allwow my NPCs perma-die, as I need them to survive in my heavy-mod game. And if one dies permanently, (which can occur very frequently) I reload. No shame in that, if I get another NPC he/she will be very low in level, and wI will be weakened greatly.

If you want to add difficulty to your game, without mods, you can put some rules to yourself, like NO reload, NO ressurection, etc. If you have fun, all the better for you!
