I found this linked on a blog run by a law shcool compatriot of mine who is now a professor at UCLA.

Here is my law school compatriot's site (he clerked for Sandra Day O'Connor, and we all knew he was a genious during law school -- he was the pain in the ass who would ask complicated and thought-provoking questions five minutes before the designated end of class): http://volokh.com/

    Here is the link: http://www.davekopel.com/Terror/Fiftysix-Deceits-in-Fahrenheit-911.htm

Warning: This should take you a half hour to read and will require serious thinking. As an aside, the author claims to have voted for Nader in the last election and, if true, probably exempts him from the category of Bush-apologist.

I didn't read it whole, but from what I saw, it looks to me like he's eager to vote for Bush now, at any rate... :heh:

What I can't understand is that if Moore really lies about pretty much everything in his books and movies, why don't the people he's so outrageously lying about sue him? I mean, if I was truly innocent and had someone intent on smearing my name with lies, that's what I would do. But I haven't heard of a single instance thus far of anyone suing Moore. If any lawyers can explain this to me, please do... I'm really curious.

Again I have not seen the movie, I did however read Moore's latest book. Most of this debunking is most likely correct but it is presented in the same way it criticises Moore for presenting things about Bush.

One example that leapt at me directly as I started reading the article was just in the beginning where the author talks about how Moore have been saying "it is three times more likely to be struck by lightning than to die by an act of terror" and in the article it seems like this is something Moore have let slip once and indicates how little he cares about terrorism and that he dont think it is serious and a threat to the US. The thing is, Moore has a whole chapter in his book "Dude, where is my country" dedicated to showing that the average American isnt likely to die by an act of terror but his point with that is to counter the immense fear he experienced after 9/11 and which lead to people accepting everything from the Bush regime and buying duct tape like crazy. Before that chapter Moore had written very much in his book about how important it is to go after terrorists and to counter terrorism and his thoughts on how it should be done.

So this article starts with a point as deceiving as the things it accuses Moore of using.

The thing I'm curious about, if Moore is so wrong, why do people go to such endless methods to prove he's a liar. Why make up such a fuss? In the past, liars and propergandists have been rubished without anywhere near the level this guy has. I dont see anyone here rubishing some right wing propergandists with equel fervour. Maybe because Morre hits home too many good points, and it feels a little too truthful?

I will admit to only getting about 15% down the page before losing interest, but in that much, the article appears to be at least as full of bull as it accuses Moore.
