    Minsc - Ranger - Bow
    PC - Fighter/thief - Bow
    Yeslick - Fighter/cleric - sling?
    Jahiera - fighter/druid - sling
    Imoen - thief 4 / mage - short bow
    Edwin - mage - sling

What do you reckon? I've tried to pick a party based on the NPC's character (basically, are they 'cool' or not).

What do you reckon, would this be OK for a run? Should I take someone else up to Yeslick, or go with 5? Is 4 a good level to dual Imoen? Do fighter/thiefs rock as much in BG as in BG2? Shall I dual or Multi class?

    Answers on a postcard please!

You have a small problem, Minsc and Edwin, those guys will kill each other. So take Kivan or Coran instead of Minsc.

IMO, fighter/thieves aren't nearly as good in BG, when I get the first full-plate, I wear it, the hell with thieving. Imoen can do that.
If you for some reason have to be a f/t, multiclass.

I don't really see a reason to dual Imoen when you got Edwin. But if you do, give Imoen the ring of wizardy (magic missiles).

I thought Minsc and Edwin were OK so long as you didn't have them in the same party when you meet Dynaheir? Or is that wrong?

What would you recommend instead of a T/F? I thought maybe a Ranger/Cleric multiclass, but then I'd have 3 healer type guys.

I think I'll dual Imoen as 1 mage is not enough for me, I'd need an extra. Maybe if I made myself a mage/cleric and took another fighter type...

Well, after a bit of reshuffling and fannying about, I think I've settled on this...

    Kivan- Ranger - Bow
    Minsc - Ranger - Bow
    Yeslick - Fighter/Cleric - sling?
    PC - Fighter / Mage - Bow
Imoen - Thief - short bow
    Dynaheir- Mage - sling

Looks good to me. My only gripe with this is that Kivan is a boring git of an NPC. He's powerful though.

Minsc and Edwin only fight on two occassions:

    1. If they're both in the party when you meet Dynaheir, they'll have their own little war.
    2. If Dynaheir is in the party with both of them, you can get a banter between Minsc and Dynaheir that Edwin chimes in on and they start their war then.

The best way to avoid this is to get Minsc and Dynaheir, then talk to Edwin. He'll join to "keep an eye on her", and then you should dispose of Dynaheir at the earliest possible opportunity. Without Dynaheir, the banter never happens. For extra fun, have Dynaheir and Edwin go off alone so Edwin can smack her to death himself.

If you go with your first party, BA, give Jaheira darts instead of slings. Keep an eye on her though; darts have a short range and she'll run ahead of the party to shoot at enemies.
