Does the deflection bonus from this spell stack with deflection bonuses from my eqiupment (rings, for example)?

Nope, Defensive Harmony definitely got nerfed here in comparison with the BG games.

It only gives +4 deflection, so anything below that DOES get upgraded. However, since you pretty much should have Magic Circle vs Evil going on 24/7 as soon as you can, you're effectively looking at +2 AC unless you've found better items so far.

In a similar vein, do resistance to various elements stack? For a Normal mode game, Oswald can turn Yeti pelts into cold resistant hats, boots, scarves, cloaks and gloves. In that example, would there be any point in giving a character each of those items.

BTW, thanks for responding so quickly.

Yes, they do, as will Spell Resistance.

Welcome to the Boards of Magic btw.

Beren - you sure about that? I seem to remember when I first played the game that I gave a character multiple cold protection clothing and it did not stack. Then again, I could be completely mistaken or the character screen could have been lying.

Elemental resistances are always of the x/- type, ie. there's no enhancement levels for elemental damage. Thus they are of the type that stacks.

Physical damage resistance calculates the x/- type first and adds the best applicable y/+n (such as Stoneskin's 10/+5) on top of it. For example, a stoneskinned level 20 Barbarian (natural 3/- DR) has 13 DR against anything below +5 enhancement, but only 3 against +5 weapons.

Edit: Another example. A 20th level Monk (natural 20/+1) wears the robe that gives 1/- DR and gets stoneskinned. Thus, he has 21 DR against non-enchanted weapons, 11 DR vs anything between +1 and +4 and only 1 DR vs +5's. Furthermore, if he were to don yet another item giving him 10/+2 DR, he'd retain his effective DR (ie. nothing improves) except* that any +1 weapon hit at him would be protected via the new item instead of eating up from the Stoneskin spell protection.

    * = Or that's at least how *I* would have coded it. Not sure if BIS agrees with me on the last 'except' part.
