    I think Demogorgon doesnt drop anything when he dies because he is an irredeemably evil demon prince who probably wouldnt bother with such trifles as material possessions even if he hadnt been sealed in a dingy little room at the bottom of Watcher's Keep for aeons.

    they had this as a question way back to one of the producers.

    He doesn't have any items because not all would be able to defeat him, and therefore missing the great item would seem unfair (or so they thought). So you get 200000xp for defeating him combat instead. And at this point, xp would be more needed (or something like that according to their argumentation).

    He was actually kinda easy for a high-lev party. He won't last very long if you put negative plane protection on. Personally I found it harder to kill his damn marileths, stupid protect from magic weapons. Melissan was a joke too, seriously. Only characters I found difficult where Draconis, definitely, the ravager, a bit and a maybe Balthazar, but not very much. Just prevent him from healing.
