The depth in this game is amazing. That's all I have to say about that.

Yeah it's deep. One minute you're high on the treetops of Suldanessalar and the next your're way below ground in Hell. Now that's deep! :p

That's it? No constructive comments about the developement of this game to their creators? No 'thank-you' note to them? Yeah, Big B, if only the topic was as depth-ly (if there is such a word) as the game.

Ooops, now I'm a hypocrite. Damn!

Uhm, I didn't know I needed to say more. I compliment the game in a message board directed at the game and I get criticized for not saying more? Well, ah, ok. You guys play the game more than me, most likely, so I think you know what I'm saying...but if you want me to state the obvious, though, then by all means, I will!

    *AHEM*

Gee, where do I begin? I think I'll begin with the graphics. It seems that every inch on the screen is fully detailed with everything from a leather-like texture on dragons to the beauty of the buildings, and the tiles on the floors. There's no telling how long the developers spent on the graphics.
Next, I'll mention the music; it's great, and it seems that appropriate music starts playing wherever you are, whether it's a battle scene or whether you're taking a stroll in the government district (which has the best music IMO).
Last, even though there are MANY more topics for me to talk about, I'll mention all the quests cramed into this game. It seems that every door I walk in, another quest is added to my journal. There is so much to do in this game, and so many different character variations to play, that I don't understand how anyone could get bored with BG2.
I hope you're satisfied...that's what *I* think depth in the game is best described as, even though I don't think it was necessary to say all of that, because, uhm, you already know.

[IMG] Yeah but they should have released it after fixing the bugs, not be4. Anyone ever played System shock 2? EA never released a patch because it doesn't have any bugs... or at least to my recollection

The story goes deep and is rather touching indeed. And there is also a clue in the whole story.

  7. Headbanger, what are you talking about? BG or System Shock 2?

BTW War Nerve, you forgot to mention the great music that accompanies you to battle! with no regrets!

    [IMG] Baldur's Gate + TOTSC = Star
    System Shock 2 = Diamond
    Baldur's Gate 2 = Top Banana

(In case you don't live around my way and don't know the local lingo, it goes 3 BG, 2 SS2,1 BG2 in order of greatness ;))

I was talking about the whole story of BG, and BG2 and ToB together. It's a great story with some usefull information and one of the best stories I saw in a game till now (Warcraft 2 had also a good story... and Final Fantasy 7 is still the best!)

[IMG] I'm with Headbanger on this one, I've started looking at the BG games as one big story, and it is. It's all good for me, all the depth and all .

I agree - BG-1 & 2 are indeed a long, complete story. It starts in (in BG-1) in candlekeep with you as a desperate lvl-1 bhaalspawn that might end up (in ToB) at lvl-40 in hell, maybe as Bhaals predecessor (or not ;) )
Pretty epic and nice (with a few lengths in BG-2 SoA - however ;) )

Definitely has an amazing amount of depth for a game with so many storyline possibilities coded!! So many NPCs, so many conversation paths which AFFECT THE GAME.... But I still like Final Fantasy 8 better. Even though it is, in many ways, less complex.

Um, I think you meant "A descendant of Bhaal". No big deal.. we got the point.

    [IMG] Hi,

I echo the sentiments of this thread. The depth is amazing. I am particularly impressed with the character depth of some of the npcs in the game. Some of the dialog interactions are fantastic.

Just been playing for an hour in chapter 8 and had two great dialogs, one from minsc where he makes a reference to smelly gases from Boo's behind when refering to a nasty npc and another protracted interaction between Imoen and Keldorn which starts off with Keldorn acusing Imoen of trying to pick his pocket.
    Both had me ROTFLOL.
The great thing is quite often the dialogs take you completely by surprise. I had just finished a particularly nasty fight and the party were licking their wounds and along came the Keldorn dialog to lighten everyones mood.
Afterwards I felt I had seen a part of Imoens character I really hadn't appreciated until now, she has a real mischievous element to her.
This is my first time through. My next character (in chapter 2 at present) is definitely going to take a different party for some more dialog fun.

I can see that this game has plenty of replay potential.

    Cheers,

    WittyNewt
