    I have a Bard/Rogue LV. 12/2

Her base armor is 15 and she is wearing light armor with +5 armor allowing +5 dex bonus. Should this add 10 if her dex is 20 (+5)? It seems to forget about the dex bonus completely.

Could it be that it does not give her the 5 for armor because she only has str 10 (+0)? So the 5 that adds is for dex?

    Thank You.

The light armor (studded leather) allows a +5 dex bonus, but this doesn't mean you get extra dex when wearing it, it caps your dex modifier at +5, so if you have 24 dex (+7 modifier) for example you still only get +5.

So more than 20 dex is useless with studded leather, if you wear half plate (max dex modifier +0) your AC won't even benefit for having more than 10 dex.

I recommend using the mage armor spell instead of armor for your bard, you avoid casting failures.

OK, I'm in work so can't check my game but isn't the base armour for everybody 10? Are you comparing your AC with and without the armour? Without you should have 10 (base) + 5 (Dex). With you should have 10 (base) + 5 (Dex) + 5 (armour). The Dex number in the armour is the maximum you can get while wearing it. It doesn't give you this on top of your normal Dex bonus.

Could you tell us the breakdown of your AC with and without the armour? You can get it from the Record screen (where you go to level up). There are four views in the top right corner and one tells you your armour class and exactly what makes it up.

How much gear is this character carrying. Carrying too much gear will also affect your Dex modifier to AC. With a Str of 10, it may be easy to be overburdened when you are looting a lot of stuff like armour.

Your STR has NOTHING to do with your AC, no matter if you're burdened or not. That may as well be a rule in PnP, but it doesn't apply to Icewind Dale 2.

    Stop the misinformation, please. :p
