[IMG] Your post gives just about 0 information about what your problem is. How about being a bit more specific? And download the latest patch if you haven't yet.

If you have read my others mails you must have noticed that I did download the latest patch. how could I now what is the problem when I'm spending 32 minutes for 6 phrases? I've noticed the sem problem in others dialogues, such as with master johns and that woman in Blacksale.. If I could have checked what the problem is, I might have have been able to fix this module myself.

Ronen - do you mean to say that the conversations are very slow? (ie, waiting half an hour to get through 6 lines of conversation) With hundreds of posts a day, it's really hard to remember that a specific person said they downloaded the patch in a completely separate thread, especially for Tal (and the other mods) who read through everything.

Anyways, if the conversations are slow, it has to do with your processor speed. I have that problem myself when there are a lot of scripts attached to a dialogue, or the area I'm in is particularly large (a problem of both video and the CPU). There's not much you can do about it.

    Sorry for being rude..
I don't know haw fast a cpu has to be, I have a celeon 1.1 mhz... Can it be faster? It is thru that I have only 16maga of video memory...
Never had such problems with BGII on a 233mh and windows 95..., with a screen of 12Inches.

[IMG] You can't compare NWN to BG2, they're two totally different games in all aspects. I suspect your dialogue delay is due to your lousy graphic card... 16MB just doesn't cut it for 3D games these days. I have a GeForce 2 MX with 32MB RAM and it still chokes in a couple of points in the game, and some dialogues (Eltoora in Chapter 2, Guard outside the Mercenary Barracks etc.) took forever to go through. You can speed this up significantly by dropping all graphic details as low as you can, and turning all fancy graphic options off.

yeah, its definitely the graphics card causing the log jam (unless you have bizarrely low RAM for a processor of that caliber). I have the same processor (with 256Mb RAM), but a 64MB GeForce 4MX card and have not experienced any of the problems you refer to.

    My mistake.

BTW - The conversations with Eltoora took *way* too long.

I did turn low grphics, sounds and visuals effects but It was never specified how that you need more than 16mega of video memory.. Now I see it demand GEFORCE2... Si if the game is only for Geforce2 Cards, with 32mega or more...

No. As you've testified to, it runs on lower end specs as well. Though replacing runs with crawls would be more appropriate. You can play the game with your graphic card as well, but if you want to play at least semi-normally, you'll need a GeForce 2 or better. Any other graphic card with at least 32MB of RAM will work fine as well.

[IMG] This helped someone in a similar situation before, Ronen:

    http://www.enpc.com/cgi-bin/enpc/VISMX400PCIBOX.html

It was $48 when I bought it, but because it's so good, the price must've gone up! Anyway, it's a great card and it's useful for any old CPU w/out an AGP slot. If it's not what you're looking for, enpc.com has a great selection of other cards. Happy hunting!

Tal, 1. Nothing in the official literature one read before buying the game specified you need more than 16 mega of video.
    2. I did not complain about the game, just about dialogues. The game runs fine, usually, so I don't understand why there is a specific problem with dialogues, especially in open surrounding.
    3. I Don't understand the need for 2 dialogue boxes

As I said, you don't, if you want to suffer. If you want to play normally, you do. GeForce 2 is recommended in the system requirements. :heh:

It's totally up to you. If you actually believe that you can run one of the newest 3D games on a severely outdated graphic card, that's fine. But you'll have your illusion dispelled soon enough.

The larger inventory the NPC has or the more dialogue they have, the slower the interaction, especially if they're outdoors. This is most likely also due to CPU speed and RAM amount.

The minimum system requirements listed on the box are wrong anyway. If you try to run the game on the minimum system, the game will load, but you'll get a message that says something like "Your system does not meet the minimum system requirements. Performance will suffer."

Thank You! You gave me the evidence I needed to stop my mother going on saying I should have checked the spec.

My performance suffered all right - It brought up a black screen and I had to turn the computer off to get rid of it

The only way he can help himself is to buy better hardware. As for you, you've already marked yourself for the next GMOTW. I'd also give you IOTW, but you can't have both at the same time.

    ronen:

the deal with not actually having that info on the box is in the hopes that people will buy it with lower standard PCs and therefore getting more sales.

Sorry to disappoint you Tal, but it seems that the real problem is with the Norton Antivirus... When I shut it down, the game was much better...
