I was reading one of the other topics, and got inspired. What are some disturbing things that other people do?

My nose has problems, I'm not sure if it's due to allergies or what, but... I can go through rolls of tissue every week. So sometimes when I feel guilty about that, I try to save on tissue by using my hands. Ever notice mucus is yellowish? Mucus makes a good ingredient for glue too.

Are you looking for the truly disturbing, or the merely annoying? I have two for the latter category:

    1) Smokers who flick away their burning butts instead of using an ashtray or a trashcan. Those filthy things ARE litter, y'know...

    2) Groups of young people who take over a sidewalk (or mall corridor) and refuse to make space for anyone else, in either direction. Of course they have to do this when people are trying to catch trains, too!

And I have reserved a special place in hell for the jerk who let his dog, uh - leave his mark, shall we say - right at the bottom of the sledding run we had made in our back yard. Yellow snow is one thing, but I'm really glad that my son bogged down before he ran over the present that was waiting for him. That would have been more mess than I'm willing to clean up with good grace! :grr: :nolike:

When someone is picking his/her nose and eat what comes out. Makes me gag when I see that.

[IMG] In Holland it seems to be a sport: Boarding the trains. And I don't mean Trainsurfing.
When the doors of the train open, everybody seems so eager for a seat, that the people on the platform almost push back the travelers who come out, back into the train. No wonder the trains are overloaded!

This is just an allday, simple example of the lack of respect for other people.

    [IMG] Lol!
Well, the last time that happened, long time ago, when the air was clean and sex filthy :shake:
    the people were playing sports-on-platforms.

    An other annoying thing:
Boys who are constantly chasing women.

There was one next to me, a few minutes ago, bothering a girl.
She was glad I helped her out.
I really feel ashame for being male sometimes!

Smoking can be a very disturbing habit sometimes. It REALLY sucks when you don't smoke but our friends do, and your parents accuse you of smoking because you smell lice tobacco. :(
Another annoying habit is, umm... whatever it's called when you put some tobacco under your lip.

Yeah, I don't care for smoking either.

I'm going to have to say people who do things they KNOW are going to be really loud, when they KNOW everyone else is sleeping.

Why not plan ahead, out of a little common courtesy, and do it before everyone is asleep.

Sleep, schmeep. How about people who are loud whenever they have a captive audience:
    * blaring car stereos in a traffic jam
    * cell phones on public transportation (or restaurants, or theatres, or church, or...)
    * conversations in a cubicle-farm

Some people must be incredibly attention-starved.

[IMG] I agree with the noise making and planning.
Last sunday night at 2245, i was trying to get to sleep (had to be up early monday morning), and just as i doze off, my neighbour starts using a power drill in the wall that joins my house and his. So that woke me up. He drills for 15 mins or so. I go back to bed, doze off about an hour later but he starts again.

It transpired that he started at 2245 and didn't stop untill midnight. On a Sunday night no less. I went and banged on the door, the wall, etc, but he just ignored me. What an mfkr.

I have many habits. Some annoying, some not. Example: bubbles in chewing-gum. I can't not do it, and the noise when it pops is much more piercing than a bubble in bubblegum.

Ah, I think it could have been what I said that insipred you ;) .
    Ok then here's that story.

We were happily in the pub one day, enjoying our drinks. It was myself, 2 old friends (Scottish) and some students we were friends with (1 Scottish, the rest were English, yes this important). Sitting discussing philisophical points we were I belive, when some one (a woman funnily enough) asked a question. Had any of us measured the size of our penises? Well, the Scottish people there all looked puzzled and asked, why would we want to? The English at the table all said yes, and checked often to see if wasa growing. Then they began discussing the best things to measure it with, the merits of rulers over measuring tapes etc.
Needless to say there was some funny looks our way that night, and I am proud to say that we never let them forget their strange obsession. Also from that we could only conclude that Englishmen are insecure about their penis size, while the Sotsmen know it's big enough, why do you think we need to wear kilts? ;) And yes, we started talking about psychology lol.
There's another story, a bit more disturbing, but I'll save that for when I have a whiskey or 4 handy, I need them just to help the trauma of it :S . Yes it involves those same students, a resturant and a very, very disturbing conversation.

(edit; a couple of spelling errors)

vermillion, get those drinks ready, I'm waiting with baited breath to listen to your story...

Being from California, one of my biggest pet peeves is when people speed up on the highway if you turn your blinker on to enter their lane. The 'me first' mentality sucks. Also, tailgating.

Loud car music as well. The booming bass one can hear from a mile away.

Oh, oh, how could I forget? The worst...
People who don't turn their cell phones off at concerts/movies.

I second what Scarampella just said on people who neglect to turn off their cellphones.

Also, I hate it when parents bring their brats to those concerts of movies where kids who don't understand any of it have no business to be at. As they quite much without exception begin to, in the case of babies: cry, and in the case of kids: talk and act in ways kids do when they get bored and nervous.

Information is a bad thing sometimes. I'm constantly annoyed by my best friend for his habit to bring out his high level of education and historical / cultural knowledge of all things that are in no way relevant to the current ongoing discussion.

Loyalty, the ability to understand the needs of another, honesty and politeness. All this is indeed a rare thing to be found in a modern human.

The invisible powerstruggle and improvement of own position relative to others that exists in all of us. Annoying to watch form the side and annoying to see yourself play a part in.

The stupidity that exists in masses. Honestly, the majority of the "civilized" mankind is so incredibly narrowvisioned, shortsighted and just plain dumb and stupid that it isn't once a day when I feel like doing the world a favor and ridding this place from quite a few of these morons.

Also applying to masses more than individual (about the annoyance factor I mean). As a wise friend of mine once said: "It doesn't matter if you're right about something. If the 10 000 others think you're wrong, then no matter how stupid they were, you are wrong."

I'm waiting for the bus at the end of the day. There is a big pickup section near the curb with the words 'Buses Only' stenciled in big letters on the ground. People still park their cars there. I never understand people who assume that the signs are talking about everyone but them.

In Chester, we have a bus lane which has been widely abused by car drivers who think the rules don't apply to them. At the end of last month, they installed rising bollards, which are only lowered by local buses and taxis, and which rise up after the vehicle passes. There are loads of signs saying "Rising bollards...do not tailgate... cameras active 24 hrs", and red/green lights telling you when you can go. In three weeks after they had been installed, 20 cars had been impaled as they tried to sneak through after a legit vehicle :D

I agree, people never really consider things in their lives because they never need to, generally the government will take care of everyone and anyone no matter what they do to themselves. Naturally, this makes the need for people to consider their environment in logical terms completely obsolete since everything that they could ever be required to think about is provided for them. One thing that really bothers me is peolple who do things just because they are not allowed to, it was a wise man who said denial breeds obsession, so our friends the idiots are partly responsible for this though their aformentioned need to get to the top and control everyone, this is obvious by looking at the fact that many laws seem to exist merely to stop people doing things which they would never in their right mind do anyway.

In short I hate poeple who don't think and those who want to control everyone.
