    I've recently started biking more seriously and I'm quite enjoying it, I have to say. Well, for me "seriously" is every second day for about an hour or so, but it's probably the most I've ever done thus far. :D Here the sports mania is rampant to the point that everyone's pretty much looking at you sideways if you're not doing anything for your health, so I'm wondering how the rest of you are doing in this respect.

    And yes, walking counts too. Has to be a bit farther than to your car and back, though. :p

    I do a standard body-weight training routine every couple of days, then go biking or hiking for a bit. Assuming it's not 30+ degrees outside, otherwise I do absolutely nothing.

    Used to do a lot of martial arts, but my fighting days are behind me now. I still do many of the exercises I've learned practicing Aikido however (joint stretching, rolls, breathing, etc.).

    I have been playing tennis 2 - 4 days a week and bike riding at least one day a week. However, I just found out that I have a 2 centimeter patch on my right (dominant) shoulder that has arthritis (i.e., the cartilage is just gone), so that will probably impact my tennis. We will see.

    At the gym at 7am for 30-45 minutes of cardio and then lifting for 30 minutes four to five times per week.

    Why do cardio before resistance training? Seems inefficient.

    Huh? When I lifted I always did cardio before resistance training. Helped to warm up the muscles.

    A few minutes of running or other cardio is fine to get your blood pumping and then some basic dynamic warm up exercises, but cardio in itself is most efficient after already working up a good sweat.

    Hmmm, maybe, but the realities of the situation are this: I'm 48, Snook is in roughly the same boat. I don't know about him, but when I'm done lifting weights (or, I guess, back when I was allowed to lift weights and did so), I wasn't going anywhere near cardio, I was going for the shower. :p

    I guess it's just a matter of habit. Personally, after 30+ min of cardio, I'm in no mood to do any kind of resistance training. I find that to be the case with most people new to working out as well, so I always plan out their routines with cardio at the end.

    We need to form a "48" club. For me, the cardio is the hard part and that is why I do it first. I also have limited time and interest to spend at the gym so when I am there, I do both.

    I try to go biking at least once a week for about 1.5 hrs, a little bit less than 50 km. I also do some excercises at home, with weights and such. Then there's swimming for half an hour twice a week. I should really bike a bit more, but now that I'm living further away from work, time is a bit more limited.

    Field hockey season is just around the corner. In the off season I get on the bike(a sporty one). My work is physical, a lot of lifting and standing on your feet.

    I do a LOT of long distance bike riding and walking. I also practice Tai Chi for at least a half hour daily.
