Do you look like your avatar?

I hope this is the correct forum...

I read a report on BBC ages ago about people choosing avatars that look like them, or how they would like to look (I will try and find the story).

So as the subject asks "Do you look like your avatar?"

If this is true for Bion, I would lock up any children... Just joking!

Of course I do - just read what's written above my portrait.

 

Hmm... I lack either yellow skin or pointy ears, so that would be a no!
Still, with enough I could probably induce jaundice, which would sort out the 1st one of those problems ... although it's probably not worth it. Some folks have it more worrying though - Tal, for example. Green skin wouldn't be healthy. And I probably don't need to mention Barmy Army here, do I?

Still, some people I can't imagine any other way than their avatars. Nakia, for example, I always think of as that selfsame halfling rogue - shortsword and all - sat at the computer screen. And Chev; whether or not it's accurate, his Avatar suits him.

EDIT - I just noticed that Nakia has said she neither looks - or would like to look - like her avatar ... another illusion shattered ...

 

Well, I'm male, and I do have dark hair, but I don't ever recall toting around a war hammer er... sorry a mallet o' thinking... I don't own any red robes, and while I am quite muscular, the physique of my avatar puts me to shame - I mean check out those triceps!

People who I (imagine) to look like their avatars (without pointy ears if they selected an elf of course) would include Splunge (from him saying so) Sir Bel (I don't know why), Spelly (again I don't know why), and Rally (ditto).

Yes Nakia and Magpie, I really should get a portrait, considering how much I have posted in a short period of time (especially today alone!).

Actually I did place an order through SP, but it was for a pre-order book, so this probably does not count yet.

I would really like to get Xan from BG! as he look like me, but I would settle for Cernd quite happily.

 

Well, I don't look like my avatar, but I like the fact that he has a great big smile. That kind of reflects me.

I look nothing at all like my avatar. About the only thing it has in common with me is gender.

 

Just a bit, I guess.
My face is long and I often look a little thoughtful.

My hair is shorter and 'tousled' and I like to smile and act friendly to people I meet.

 

@Magpie-The avatar is not right. Halflings got short changed (ha) The hair is wrong-she isn't plump. There were only two avatars that even vaguely fitted my little rogue. One was already taken. Haven't seen it on the boards tho.

I know what you mean about thinking of the people looking like their avatar. If we could manage a SP convention we'd all probably be shocked at what people really looked like. "Oh no, that can't really be 'so and so' . He/she doesn't look anything like their avatar."

 

Not really, green is one of my favourite colours but I dont have the scars nor the muscles clearly evident on this guy.

 

No I don't look like my avatar. It lacks a few tentacles and my robe is black these days. Additionally my skin is really more dark gray than clear purple allthough there is a touch of purple in my skin.

 

Yes, I do. I usually tend to carry around an arrow-pincushioned shield with me, no matter where I go.
