Every full-legal-licensed copy of it includes a help file (called by F1 from inside the editor) that describes all methods of using the editor and gives code examples. Not like there's much to learn, but its a way. As for books, you'd be able to dig something up in the museum of technology ;)

Check your local community college, if they teach programming they often use QBasic for their intro to programming classes. Of course libaries are good places to find books too.

Ah, BASIC, back to the good old days... I've never used QBASIC, my version was something even more primitive (I think) called GWBASIC, which could only cope with 60KB of data at a time. But I did use it to write about 1.5MB of code which replaced all the tables work in my PnP roleplay games. It made a lot of difference to the rate of play :)

[IMG] GW-Basic!!! Haha, those were the days... back when your OS (DOS) didn't crash once a day -- not even once a week... *sigh*. Who needs a GUI, anyway?

*wince* I am sure you can find it somewhere that was listed above, but one question, why learn qbasic? I learned it myself 7 years ago, and find it fairly useless.

I agree with Azirath. Surely you can find a more useful programming language to learn ?

Yes Basic is more simple and straightforward, but you can use the functionalities allowed by basic with c/etc.. without much effort for the foundations of computer programming is the same whatever the language. Only the syntax is a bit harder to get used to.

It's simple, and an easy way to learn the first basics of programming........ It's a nice toy to play some with, not interesting for real programming though

I think it is a good progarm that would make a great game under the right person. People expect to much out of games these days. The better the graphics the better the game. Well I'm telling you that graphics are not the only thing a game is about. Much more goes in to a game then just graphics. Their has to be a great plot and stoy line. Not only that but QBasic is one of the very first programs that we used and still use today! Where whould all these games be with out it?! If thier was no QBasic most likey thier woulod be no SP!!!! QBasic was a stepping stone and a corner stone in building and desining computers and their systems. It's no toy to play with, it is the basis for all programs!!!!!!!!!!!!!:flaming::flaming::flaming::flaming:!!!!!!

Basis for all programs ? Then you are speaking about machine code/assembly.

Don't get me wrong I've nothing against basic. I was writing computer games (pretty crude ones mind you) with basic on my c64 and it was extremely fun.

the reason I said learn c is there's practically nothing you can't do with c. Learn the basics and then if you feel like it you can get into advanced stuff.

what's with the flame anyway :)
