Does anyone know why the Tanner won't die?

Can anyone tell me the reason for the tanner in the skinner quest not dying???

 

He wont die so you can go on to the Usprar Hills(sp? quests I think. Once I was there I met with his contact pretending to be him and it didnt go much farther than that. I'm thinking this may be a quest for evil aligned characters.

I met and got to finally kill him in Trademeet.

Did you do the impersonation bit at Usprar Hills? Does that make a difference?

No, I didn't experience anything like that in Umar Hills. I just got a quest involving him while I was in Trademeet.

 

1) Yes, you'll eventually kill the tanner in Trademeet.
2) You'll also get to impersonate the tanner in Umar Hills (not Usprar Hills ), however, remember to get that piece of human flesh armour with you, which can be found in one of the beds in the Tanner's Shop (Bridge District, second level).

And ohhhh, yeah, that impersonation quest is pretty damn evil, thou that shouldn't stop you from doing it

 

I dont remember where the book needed for it is. prolly one of the book cases around the city or something?

 

1. You meet Tanner's Contact 'Gracin Doyle". I Think that's the right one, but it might change with each game.
2. First you buy the 'Book of Khentarium' off of him.
3. Then he will ask u to tell him his name.
4. Then he will tell you to go get some Silver Dragon Blood to complete the Human Flesh Armor.

You'll find "your" contact (which looks like a cleric) where those three merchants are (Min Mining, etc), right outside the tavern. And the actual name for the book is History of Zhentarim (or something like that).

For when you are to answer his question (what's his name), option number five is the correct one (or perhaps six, I can't remember right now...).

 

Just something strange: Going back to the tanner when you first meet him; I had a sorcerer with staff of the archmage. I had only my main character in my party. I went up and accused him and he ran away like normal, but then I turned invisible and went down the next set of stairs. I had the robe of Vecna and cast magic missle at him and he started to run down the stairs but I ran to attack him and he decided to attack me back. I got him down to "Near Death" but he wouldn't die. I delt over 100 damage to him. I'm taking it that it is because of the quest later on involving him. I just thought that was kind of strange.

 

Vile-same thing happened to me-all my characters blasted him, but he wouldn't die. Just stayed at near death.

 

I went up to him and smacked him with my good ol' Quivering Palm. There were those sparklike things that tells you that it connected (he missed his saving throw), but he didn't die. He just ran off. The game won't let you kill him at that time, I guess.
