I was creating a necromancer the other day, and noticed that in the spell description of skulltrap, it gives 1d6 pr level of the caster, though it mentions nothing of a limit like e.g. fireball the maxes at 10th level. If this isn't a glitch, this spell is extremely powerfull. Anyone know for sure?

I asked Slappy and he checked in the manual, but it wasn't mentioned there eiter.

[IMG] Skull Trap inflicts two magical damages at one strike in this way starting at caster's level 6:

    LEV - caster's level
    INT(x,y) - Integer value from x/y - no decimals

    1. Damage: [INT(LEV,2)]d6
    2. Damage: [LEV - INT(LEV,2)]d6

This means that caster of level 10 would inflict 5d6+5d6 magical damage and level 11 would inflict 5d6+6d6 magical damage.

And yes, there is damage cap - level 20.
All casters that reach levels above it inflict 10d6+10d6 magical damage.

Will that be changed in ToB I don't know.

Doh, you beat me to it Extremist. Anyway, just for food for thought. I original tried to work this out through experimentaton. i had Imoen at level 17 memorise loads of these, cast them, then summon a monster to walk into the trap (I'm showing evil necromancer tendies here). Anyway I did this 12 times noting down all of the damage and save roles. Basicall if it saves, one roll is made, if it fails two damage rolls are made (the second being the highee number times D6 as shown in Extremeist's post above). I reorded the damge rolls and calculated their average. I then combined these two averages for an average damage if you fail the saving throw. The average was 40.5 per spell. An expected damge per level based on 1D6/level is 3.5. 40.5/3.5 gives an average level of 12. The maximum damage roll was 34*2 = 68 which again would be level 12. Quite a way short of level 17. Of course there could be magic resistance at work here (but the summoned craetuares were mainly Ogers). So I was already to post that level 12 seemed to be the max despite what the manual said.

Just to be rigorous though (too much academic exposure) I decided to verify the results by using a second method. In this case I loaded up Infinity Explorer and searched for the spell. I found it, it is SPW1313 and the information I found was exactley the same as posted by Extremist. SO Imoen was, on average, inflicting 19 points (30%) less damage than she should have. Typical.

As a point of interest I found a spell listed called 'MDK2SUMM' MDK was that game by Shiny and was rumoured to mean Murder Death Kill. Anyone any ideas about this spell.

Sorry Slappy, I didn't post about half damage save because it's in spell's description...

However I explained it to Lokken in chatroom.

Nm, about MDK spells I think they are busted. Never tried them.

AFAIK this spell is just a joke. Aparently MDK 2 was a really buggy game (I never played it so I dont know), and the only thing this spell does is crash your game, so there making fun of MDK 2.Either that, or it is an evil scheme to annoy cheaters :D.

And BTW MDK does stand for Murder Death Kill.

  6. Nope, MDK stands for Max, Doc, Kurt, the 3 main characters in the game.
