Does strength bonus damage appy to bows?

    Just curious. It kind of makes sense that it might, since a stronger person would be able to pull a bowstring back farther than a weaker person.

    Nope. Only Dex, and it only affects To Hit. AFAIK, the only ranged weapon that benefits from STR is the Sling of Seeking.

    Correct - sling of seeking allows for strength bonuses.

    There are bows, however, that do require you to have a certain strength in order to even use them. There's one that requires a 19 strength but can't think of the name of it. Bearpaw? Southpaw?

    Some thrown weapons, such as axes and the dwarven throwing hammer, also get a strength bonus. Darts and daggers do not.

    For bows, I think they kind of tap dance around the issue by allowing stronger characters to use the bigger bows with the damage and THAC0 bonuses, such as composite long bows. Not quite the same, though.

    Bows, Slings, Darts, Throwing-Daggers and Crossbows do not benefit from STR unless stated by the item. Throwing Axes, Hammers and Spears (for item-upgrade mod) benefit from STR for DAMAGE, however THAC0 benefits from DEX.

    If you get the mod that allows you to upgrade more items with Cespenar and Cromwell (sp?) you can turn impaler into a throwing spear.
