Doom and Greater Malison are affected by MR?

I tried Tactics, and I find the dragon battles extremely challenging. So challenging in fact, that I decided to try and cheese my way through them, by taking down his defenses with a Keldorn dispel magic and a breach in the first round, throwing a Greater Malison and Doom on the Shadow Dragon in the second round, and taking him out with a Chromatic Orb in third round. It seemed like a pretty solid plan, especially since round 1 is foolproof. I successfully casted both spells and he resisted them both (EDIT: meaning the Greater Malison and Doom, magic resistance doesn't affect Breach and Dispel Magic), and went on to resist both Chromatic Orbs in a Minor Spell Sequencer. First of all, aren't these spells supposed to circumvent MR? Secondly, I was under the impression that the Shadow Dragon only had a MR of around 45%, so it seems highly unlikely that he would have resisted all of those spells.

Anyone have any ideas on this? Am I right here, or am I being true to my namesake?

Breach is supposed to ignore MR, but I don't think Dispel Magic is. Nothing in the spell description says so.

The likelihood of a creature with 45 MR resisting 4 spells is 4.1%, so it does seems unlikely. It is possible however.

EDIT: Ah, thought you were talking about the first round spells. Though tactics could be to blame for Breach.

Sad to say, they are affected by MR. Worse, the Tactics Dragons have items that adds MR to various cheesy spells. Guess Greater Malison is not great anymore.

Most unfortunate indeed. I suppose I could start with two Lower Resistance, but that now takes me round 4, and the likelihood of me having enough party members still in the fight to execute that plan is fleetingly small.
