    Well... What IS this thing?

    First, I got an error message saying that Windows Explorer needs to close sorry for the inconvenience. This error message didn't have "Send Error Repeort" or "Don't Send" just buttons saying "Close" and "more info" which was weird...

    A few moments later the same error message came up saying DrWatson postmortem debugger had an error and needs to close. WTF is this?

    Dr Watson is a diagnostic tool that is included with Windows that is supposed to gather informtion about your computer in the event of an error.

    Sometimes it will freeze up you're system if you have some type of an error, but disabling it will cause system instability, so it's better to leave it on.

    Does this thing still exist in XP? I thought they'd taken it out in the NT line. I remember it consistently crashing my system in the Windows 3.0 days...

    Its still there and it still appears to cause problems, but its usually due to something else and disabling it will probably cause a blue-screen as opposed to a system freeze. Generally it can be used as a pretty good indication that something is terribly wrong and you may have to fix it.
