Here are today's Dragon Age forum highlights, taken from Dragon Age Official Forum. Please take into account that these are only single parts of various threads and should not be taken out of context. Any input from Bioware to be had on this subject?
I think we've already said there's full party control. Whether or not there will even be AI for the party, we don't really know yet, as Brenon said.

If the end product proves to be unsuitable, we won't use it, but the potential benefits make it worth trying.

Similar to A Song of Ice and Fire?
I think that the "A Song of Ice and Fire" books have had an incredible influence on the current generation of fantasy readers. And that's a good thing.

If someone were to point to the Dragon Age story or setting and make favorable comparisons to George R.R. Martin's works, I would be one hampy camper indeed.

    More:
I'm thinking that, as far as fiction goes, it's probably not the model you want to follow when your minimum sales number is deep into the six digits.

The word 'lemming' come to mind?
Who said it's the model we're following?

I find many things about "A Song of Fire and Ice" quite refreshing compared to many recent fantasy releases... as do most of the people I know. It's an excellent piece of work so far, and if you feel differently well so be it. (And thanks for implying that my enjoyment of the novels somehow makes me immature. Yeah, that's not too elitist.)

Kick off another round of kvetching on "grey morality" if you like, there's nothing about the novel that we're using as a model for anything.

    Good, Evil, Sacrifice, Temptation
Here is my look at DA: maybe Bioware will try to put some kind of Ambiguous Judgement between good and evil. There are good and evil but it will be hard to decide or something like that. But as for "There will not be good and evil", well, IMO that may be too bold for a claim.
What claim? When I talk do you just put your hands over your ears and go LALALALA or something? I don't get it. Well, believe what you want.

dave should save this response and simply paste it anytime some tedious alignment slider thread develops... and if anybody asks a question 'bout said response, you can simply re-paste over and over and over again.
No kidding. I'm not sure why I bother, though.

    More:
hum? I don't understand what you mean. Someone said that there won't be good and bad in JE and I said that's too much of a claim, does it really have to direct at someone? Jade Empire already did something similar, so now I know it's better to be safe then sorry, I simply followed the discussion and not asking for a confirmation of any soft. And yes, I'll believe what I want, or I'll believe it when I see it, what is the point in reminding me of that [IMG]

If you like, you can go to the JE's archive and search for a philosophy, except that DA doesn't have 2 new names for 2 philosophies, it's suffice to say what you said in Grommir's suggested quote ain't the first time I hear such a thing.
Oh. So even though I spell out exactly what I'm talking about, it's not that I'm being misunderstood it's that you suspect I may just be lying. Well, fair enough.

    Ingredients for Success
I get the point of creating a base for the protagonists actions, but why different ones that aparently based on race. Frankly it seems like a bit of a cheap way to ensure the replay value. Please tell me Im wrong about that one.
I'm not sure what you mean by a "base"... it's a beginning to the player's story that roots him wherever his background should be. If he's a mage, he starts off living like a mage and learning what being a mage is all about. Or an elf. Or a dwarven prince. Or whatever.

The idea is that however you enter the story, that you started from somewhere and that it has a root in the setting. And rather than it just being a quick cut-scene, we ease you into things by having you actually live a bit and have a stake in the setting we're creating and maybe learn about it some before jumping into the plot. It certainly isn't just for replay value (though that's a plus) or to provide any kind of "base"... it's something we hope will enhance the experience.

    More:
Kinda like Diablo 2... or most MMORPG's where your class dictates your starting location?
Errr... if location is all there is to it, then no. The first part of your story is unique based on your background, to establish where you come from and allow you to learn about the world, as I said.

    More:
The more and more I read this thread and the developer answers the more curious I get.
I wish I could answer questions more thoroughly, as each answer I give obviously brings up even more questions, but I'm afraid that for the most part I will just have to leave you curious for the moment.

I would love to answer Grom's statements by elaborating on everything, for instance, but that will simply have to wait.

How is the characters stake set, is it based on race or class, does class trump race or does race trump class when it comes to background or does each race class combination have its own? Or worse yet are certain races restricted to certain classes?
There are a selection of backgrounds available which are based on either race or class (it depends on the class). There is a bit of class restriction based on race, but only where it makes sense.

Possibly... but are you going to respond well if your mechanic who's never driven a car tells you that doing A will make a car feel more responsive?
