    Dragons of Heaven and Earth.

    This is the character thread for the RP ‘Dragons of Heaven and Earth’ and there are a few things for people to know.

    Races. There are 5 human races Han, Chin, Nippon, Mongol and Viking. The Han, Chin and Nippon correspond roughly to what we now call Korea, China and Japan. The Mongols are nomadic barbarians that ride horses and roam the steppes (north of the 3 kingdoms) and raid villages towns etc in the Han and Chin kingdoms. The Vikings are sea-faring barbarians their home is to the south of the continent and they raid all 3 kingdoms.

    Mongols gain Skill Focus (Riding), and weapon Focus (Sabre) at level 1. Vikings gain Wepaon Focus (Axe) and Greater Weapon Focus (Axe) at level 1.

    Elves and Dwarfs do exist as well but on the whole are secretive and hide themselves from men, but there remains some high-leveel contatct between Men, Elves and Dwarfs. Half-Orcs do exist but are looked upon by the superstitious (which is just about everybody) as demons or demon-spawn and either driven away or killed on sight.

    Th other races (5 of them) described in Oriental Adventures are also allowed, if anybody is interested in playing a different race but doesn’t have the book, if they pm I’ll scan the pages and e-mail them back.

    Classes. Barbarian (Mongol or Viking), Fighter, Monk, Ranger, Rogue, Samurai (Nippon only), Sword-Saint (as Samurai but Han or Chin only, any alignment allowed), Shaman, Shugenja (divine elemental spellcaster), Sohei (militant monks), Sorcerer(evil arcane spellcasters), Wu-Jen (mysterious spellcasters).

    Characters will normally start at level 5 except Samurai/Sword-Saint who are bound to a lord they will start at level 4 but will also have 4 level 3 NPC samurai with them at the start of their game. Any questions pm me.

    Prestige Classes. Allowable classes are Battle Maiden, Bear Maiden, Blade Dancer, Henshin Mystic, Iajutsu Master, Ninja Spy, Shadow Scout, Shapeshifter, Shintao Monk, Singh Rager, Tattooed Monk, Void Disciple, Weapon Master, Witch Hunter. Also from Complete Divine I’m including Black Flame Zealot and Sacred Fist.

    BIO:
    He grew up in the small valley of Hasu (lotus), his village was not rich, but it was productive enough to provide relatively comfortable living for the people who lived there, and as a child he worked in the rice fields alongside the villagers. Every so often he would sneak off into the forest to avoid work, and to day dream among the trees of the forest that surrounded his village’s territory.

    One day when he returned after such an escapade he found the village in flames, he ran for his home, shouting for his mother and father, the fire roaring around him he saw his family killed by what he later found out to be demons. With tears in his eyes he ran for his fallen parents, willing for them to stand up and drive off these invaders, but it was not to be and one of the demons threw the young boy into the ruins of his home, where he fell unconscious surrounded by flames, ruin and death.

    When the boy came too his vision was blurry, and he saw he was in a strange place, he heard muffled voices nearby, but when he tried to call out he burst into a fit of coughing, which if nothing else achieved the desired effect of attracting the attention of those voices. The boy felt cool hands upon his fore head, despite not knowing where he was he felt comforted and with an effort he croaked “Am I dead?” he heard faint laughter and a warm friendly voice answered simply “no”. The boy later learned he had been rescued from the flames by a group of monks on a pilgrimage to the monastery that was only a few miles from his village, and this was where he was, and where he would remain until he came of age to take the oath of the monk, and to make his own pilgrimage to find his own path…

    Michiyo is a shy, but devout man. The flames left Michiyo with scars on the left side of his face and also on his left arm (hence his low charisma). He has devoted himself to the ways of the monk, and will not easily sway from them. He is tall, wirey of frame and very agile, and graceful in his movement.

    More about Midorikawa Ayumi:

Upon reaching his coming of age, he decided to go forth and explore the world, and now travel around living off his talents for archery and hunting.

    History:

    Kahahaki is the only child of a outcast Varana family living in human lands. At an early age he showed promise as an excellent shaman and discovered he was skilled in interacting with the spiritual world. He soon started to study under his father. However unlike most of his people, except for perhaps his parents he knew discipline and also trained armed combat rigorously, sometimes at the expense of his spiritual talents.

    She is a beautiful girl, with long, dark, flowing hair that reaches to her waist. She is quiet and rarely speaks. Her looks however are deceiving. She was an assassin for the Black Rose Clan, a large criminal organization operating under the cover of night in certain provinces (while being a cold, heartless killer, she does it because she is ordered to, not because she enjoys it, hence the true neutral alignment). She uses a pair of unique single edged, straight Duan Jian (short swords) that are slightly shorter than most short swords which she keeps strapped to her gauntlets (giving her a +1 AC when her weapons are sheathed, as she is able to deflect blows with her gauntlets, protected by her swords). She is dressed in black leather which allows her to easily blend with the shadows. She is seemingly unarmed (her Duan Jian are usually unseen when sheathed) but underneath her seemingly harmless exterior she carries many Fei Dao (throwing daggers), hidden in compartments in her armor, boots, belt and even under the cover of her flawless, long hair.

    History of QiShu:
    As a young girl, she witnessed her family brutally slaughtered by agents of the Black Rose Clan after her father, an officer of a small province meddled in their affairs one too many times. Her mother hid her in the kitchen as the three killers stormed into their home and, after watching them murder her mother, in her fury she leaped out of the cupboard she was hiding in with a kitchen knife in her hand, attacked the surprised assassins. She managed to wound two of the assailants before she was stopped by the leader of the attackers. Admiring her bravery and skill, she took her into the clan. She was then made into the killing machine that she is. However, 8 ago she was sent to slaughter a family of wealthy businessman who has made many enemies who want him dead. After she has killed all but the young daughter of the businessman, she was reminded of her own bloody past and could not bring herself to finish the job. Because of this, she has been marked for death by her own clan. For 2 years, she was hunted and during an ambush, she was saved by Henjien, she has traveled with him ever since, trying to live as a normal human being in this cruel world.
    While she has a dark and bloody past, she has laid low for many years, and now not many people know of her past connections with the vile clan.

    About Henjien:
    A charismatic and friendly person, he travels around the land looking for sights and adventure. His wanderlust is due to his connection with the spiritworld, an ability he was born with. Because of this connection, he is always in awe at the beauty of the world and the one beyond. He has an animal companion, a white mouse whom he calls XiaoShu (Little Mouse) who hides in the many pockets of his leather armor (XiaoShu can grow to the size of a normal animal companion, using the stats of the rat, but he rarely if it ever does so, preferring to hide in the comfort of his masters pockets). Henjien uses a masterwork Jian, called Shen Jian (Divine Sword) and handles it with grace.

    History of Henjien:
    His past is one filled with adventure and grand sights. His wanderlust made him leave his family many years back (although he is sure to visit for every important festival. He is still very much, a pious son) traveling the lands in search of even more adventure and grand tales to be had. He is a kind person, and likes to do random acts of charity for the poor and underprivileged in the land (earning him a slight reputation, something of a Robin Hood). In his travels, he came upon QiShu desperately staving off attacks from cloaked figures and he quickly steps in to the rescue. With his help, they manage to kill her assailants, and he offered her whatever help he can (QiShu was badly injured from the fight, and poisoned by her attackers). He nursed her back to health, and they have traveled with him ever since. He follows her, trying to encourage her to have a better outlook in life, trying to cheer her up with his funny antics (without much success usually, the cold, grim person that she is) as well as to encourage her to act in kindness (as repentance for her past wrongdoings). She follows him in gratitude, for saving her life and finally warms up to him. After many years, they have developed feelings for each other and rarely traveled apart.

    BTW, all four carry the same equipment. Including a Bastard Sword (katana) and Short Sword (Wakizashi) and a horse each (hence the ride skill). I don't know what short of armour would fit the Samurai style, so I'll leave them in their Kimono's just now :)

    Bio

    Jin is tall, handsome looking man, clean shaven, well muscled with broad shoulders. His dark hair is worn long, hanging midway down his back, tied back so that it is still loose, but kept away from his eyes. He carries himself with confidence, moving with an elegant grace.

    He was born to a low ranking samurai and a merchants daughter who's father hoped to raise his families status.

    He led a happy childhood, learning the ways of the samurai from his father. Hard work and the encouragement from his father insured that he grew up into a capable young man.

    He serves his Daiymo faithfully and enjoys the times when he is sent out into the world.

    His three companions played together as children and trained together as young men. Together, they have a rare friendship where fights and arguments are few and far between, insuring a competent team off and on the battle field.

    Jin seems to have been recognised as their leader, his dominant personality and smart decisions have made him thus.
